Hearn told iFL TV: “I wanna take Dillian Whyte to America for his next fight this summer.

“Give him some profile over there. Yes [to headline a show], it’s the only way.

“Go over, MSG, wherever it is, go and make a name over there and then I’d love to make the Wilder fight later in the year.”

Regarding possible opponents, the promoter added: “There’s a good fight coming up with Jermaine Franklin and Stephan Shaw.

“The winner of that’s a good fight.

“Trevor Bryan is another option for the WBA ‘regular’.

“There’s plenty of options, I’d like it to be an American.”

Thoughts?

Interesting facts:

• Stephan Shaw beat Jonathan Rice five years ago – Efe Ajagba fought the same guy during his most recent outing
• Jermaine Franklin beat Rydell Booker two years ago –the same guy coincidentally provided Kubrat Pulev and Filip Hrgovic with their most recent victories
• Jermaine Franklin beat Jerry Forrest two years ago –the same guy coincidentally held Zhilei Zhang to a draw during his most recent outing and also provided Carlos Takam with his most recent victory

Other than that, I don't really know much about Shaw or Franklin, but their resumes aren't terrible.

They superficially appear to be vastly superior opponents than Trevor Bryan, despite the latter being the WBA's regular heavyweight titleholder.

As long as they're not PPV, they're all ok stay busy fights until he faces Wilder/AJ/Fury. If he was to face both the winner of Shaw/Franklin and Bryan by the end of the year that would be a good schedule to stay busy and it would be a step towards clearing up the WBA Regular situation.

I agree.

However, I wouldn't be too bothered about Whyte's next bout being a PPV event, if the supporting fight card itself is stacked (with talent) or Dillian's appearing on the undercard of a marquee fight.

Doubt it, if it's US, even with a stacked card, DAZN will be the ones funding that bout..

Unless Sky want to have it on PPV here, at daft o clock.

Won't be surprised it DAZN have it in the UK as well. Will have to see.

That list is uninspiring.
I don't think Whyte is the type of guy that benefits from stay busy fights. He doesn't need to get complacent when the next step forward is a large one.

Franklin isnt very good - whyte should beat him easily

I don't mind those guys if he's gonna stay active and fight again soon after, but those aren't guys that should take up the next 6 months of his career

although, maybe shaw might be not bad? i have a pretty good read on franky, but shaw is more of an unknown and might prove to be better than mere stay busy fodder. granted im not impressed much by what ive seen from him but i'll give him dat chance, let's see what he brings vs 'maine

Trev bryant obviously makes the most sense. just because in USA has so many ignorant fans, that can be tricked with regular titles.... Watch eddie hearn bill it as a heavyweight world title unification....

If he wins the WBA reg belt along with his WBC interim, it gives him a chance to drag wilder into the fight end of the year so thats a real bonus.

no, never do when i see the poll. i feel the poll should be below the origonal thread.. but thats besides the point, i was answering someone suggesting hearn talking wilder... sure i was parallel to the origonal thread, but i was serving the same purpose.

Since he is wbc mandatory shouldn't he just wait until he gets a shot / the belt becomes vacant.
Maybe fight some absolute scrubs to stay busy like they did in the old days.

Dillian is never going to be that guy. He loves to fight and he has a very poor self-preservation instinct. I have his interests at heart and I'd like nothing more than to see him take an easy one, and relieve that clown, Trevor Bryan of his pitiful trinket so we hear no more claims from this imposter about being world champion.

Bryan isn't going to want to take on someone who can fight, so Dillian will probably end up taking a high risk/low reward opponent like Hrgovic, Bakole-Ilunga, or Sanchez-Faure, while the likes of Bryan and Ortiz scurry back under their rocks.
