How come no-ones mentioning or discussing this upcoming bout..?

I'd like to see Ben Win. His training is looking rather enthralling. He's improved. Glad he hooked up with Roach and Bundrage.

Anyone else think sooner or later someone is going to get seriously hurt if these “influencers” etc... keep jumping in the ring treating boxing as a platform for publicity.

That ex NBA fella that Paul fought last time was absolutely clueless and very lucky he didn’t get seriously hurt

An elite boxer being repetitively punched in the head by an elite boxer isn’t really much less dangerous than a low levle boxer and an mma wrestler punching each other in the head.

No - my comment was aimed at the last fight Paul had.

He fought that ex basketball player in a professional boxing bout. The ex NBA guy had no clue whatsoever what he was doing and took some heavy heavy punches before being brutally knocked out.

At best he belonged in a charity bout with 16oz gloves and head guard. Not in a professional ring

Sooner or later sounds like talking about the future.... but anyway, Yep that was a rough ko to nate, but still no worse than the ko Howard copped today against efe.

It’s not healthy but making a million to cop some minor brain trauma is hardly unethical when boxing has no dramas with paying Dave Allen 9000 to get his head bounced around by Ortiz.

Boxing puts guys worse than jake Paul in with future world champs to build a record, that’s unethical, throw in the fact they make about 90 bucks....

I've met Ben a few times, and followed his wrestling and mma career. One thing I'll say is that he is very tough physically and mentally, and a quick learner. Striking/boxing has never been his strong suit, but Paul isn't a slick boxer either. Both may show skills we haven't seen, who knows. Good fight but hard to bet against Askren in this one, especially since he's got good trainers.

Paul has been training for years as a boxer. He's a spiteful puncher. Boxers who train with him say he's decent. He will obliterate Askren.

Askren has looked terrible at times when attempting to strike; rushes in with his arms out front, chin up and bum sticking out. Reminds me a bit of Peter Jackson's version of King Kong. It's certainly not his strong point but, for some reason, he's managed to avoid getting KO'd by strikes so far in MMA.
He's got all the experience on his side but I somehow think that his habits from fighting MMA could prove his downfall. Where he might have it by habit to move from strikes to a different style ie grappling/takedown, the necessity to remain punching with guard up might get forgotten and Paul looks like he can punch.
I certainly hope that Askren wins, I can't stand these 2 gobshite brothers, but have the feeling he'll get caught cold.

I actually think Paul has a lot of guts doing this. He takes it seriously. He trains hard and with top fighters. He doesn't need to fight and if he gets laid out he will get so much stick.

He's faced a youtuber, a retired MMA player and up next is a retired wrestler/mixed martial artist with next to no striking ability. All in their debuts. He talks like he's beat legit boxers. Lots of guys take the game seriously and face guys who are a threat. He's cherry picked opponents for social media likes and isn't actually risking anything. What he does doesn't take guts in my view.

It won’t happen. Askren just seems incapable of throwing a half decent punch. If he went the distance it would be considered a victory.
Boxing just isn’t his game.

Ok not that I think Paul is going to be a great boxer anytime soon, but why is the public’s perception that he is “just a YouTuber”... he is a young athletic guy, if he is training enough with good coaches around him why can’t he become semi decent.... didn’t wilder win an Olympic medal after less than 2 years of boxing? Fabio wardly just had a couple of white collars befor turning pro. Plenty of current pros started boxing older than jake Paul did.

Yea he isn’t going the normal path, but making millions to fight bums makes more sense than making pennies to do so, and don’t act like legit pros haven’t had guys worse than Ben askrin rolled out as opponents. I honestly think iv seen some opponents worse than Nate Robinson befor, he was terrible, but at least fit.

i mean, it's an understandable perception, cuz he is a youtuber, he debuted against a youtuber, and hasnt fought 1 actual boxer. if there was a celebrity boxing tournament, and one celeb beat up 2 others, wouldnt it be pretty understandable if ppl still didnt consider them a legit boxer? cuz basically that's what paul's done so far.

did he have any amateur/white collar career at all or did he just jump right into pro boxing, i hardly know anything about him, but if he has no real amateur background and has only done celebrity boxing, well there's a good answer

btw i have no idea where his 6'1 listing comes from, when you see him next to boxers he's like 5'10 at best

wilder was pretty phenomenal in winning bronze 3 years after starting boxing, although even then he turned pro with around 40 amateur fights

who was that guy butterbean ko'd in the wwe? does he count as a legit boxer too, i mean he did actually fight a pro boxer!he also beat some pro wrestlers in real boxing matches before that, i cant imagine they'd have been any worse than paul's youtuber and basketball opponents
