Jean Pascal-Badou Jack Rematch, Jarrett Hurd-Luis Arias On Mayweather-Paul Undercard
A light heavyweight championship rematch and the return of a former junior middleweight champion will be part of the Floyd Mayweather-Logan Paul undercard June 6.
Boxing Scene has confirmed that a second bout between Jean Pascal and Badou Jack and another fight that’ll pit Jarrett Hurd against Luis Arias will be among the three fights Showtime Pay-Per-View will televise before Mayweather and Paul meet in an exhibition. Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix first reported the Pascal-Jack and Hurd-Arias fights Tuesday night on Twitter.
Mayweather and Paul officially announced on Instagram on Tuesday night that their exhibition is set for June 6 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Representatives for Pascal, 38, and Jack, 37, have been discussing their rematch since last spring.
Quebec’s Pascal (35-6-1, 20 KOs, 1 NC) edged Jack by split decision in their 12-round fight in December 2019 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Pascal dropped Jack in the fourth round and withstood a 12th-round knockdown to defeat Sweden’s Jack on two of three scorecards (114-112, 114-112, 112-114).
Pascal won the WBA world 175-pound championship from Jack that night. Jack (23-3-3, 13 KOs), a former super middleweight and light heavyweight champion, is promoted by Mayweather’s company.
Pascal hasn’t boxed since he beat Jack nearly 16 months ago. Jack out-boxed overmatched Blake McKernan (13-1, 6 KOs) by unanimous decision in an eight-rounder November 28 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
