Excellent boxer
Boxing commentator and ex-pro Steve Holdsworth boxed him as an amateur and said he was superb and would constantly have you guessing what punch was coming next.

I never knew Holdsworth was a pro

I remember him returning to the UK with a boxer he was training who fought Sean Murphy.
The fight was shown on ITV's 'Seconds Out'. I seem to recall Murphy appearing fortunate to get the win, but Cornelius was dignified in saying "a draw would have been fair".

Sean Murphy against Les Fabri. Yes, it was a bad verdict. Boza was never in a bad fight and his win over Bazooka Limon in 1981 for the world title is all about guts, skill and power. They loved him in the States.

I think Boza was in two fight of the year contenders, in the same year, against two Mexican madmen, bazooka Limon and Bobby Chacon.
Yes the American networks absolutely loved him, mr excitement, but when he was shockingly upset against Navarette, the rumours were he was finished, and there was another up-and-coming TV sensation who seemed destined for the top, John The Heat Verderosa.
He was firing his way up the ratings and they decided that Boza was the perfect stepping stone...
Big mistake !! He vaporised the American upstart in three rounds, putting Boza right back in the picture, and back on track for a big world title rematch with Bobby schoolboy Chacon.

Dead right...what a fighter!
Crackin' backstory with him too. Also, the perfect example of early defeats doing some fighters no harm whatsoever.
A staple on the telly thanks to Duff's privilege's and his fan-friendly style and persona.
The American networks loved him along with the Brits. Worthy of anyone's box-set collection.
