British corner endswell use and eye injuries - correlated?

Eye injuries seem to be happening more commonly to british fighters and the use of the endswell is prevalent here. The cornerman presses the endswell as hard as he can into the eye area to reduce swelling between rounds. But could this be putting too much pressure on the eye area and leading to the bone becoming susceptible to these injuries? If a fighter is on the cusp of getting one, the endswell being pressed into the eye could be making it more likely to happen.

Lets say a fighter has an orbital fracture like Dubois did and he then has to go to his corner and sit through the endswell being pressed into that area as hard as the cornerman can press it. Surely that's a terrible thing to be doing when the fracture has already happened? The cornerman can't know it has happened so it is a gamble using it right? Same was happening with Kell Brook. I could be totally off the mark here seeing a possible correlation but it was just something I was thinking about.

I just don’t think they are as tough as fighters of the past.

My understanding is that an Endswell should be used to the area surrounding any swelling the theory being that the "iron" being cold will cause the vessels in the surrounding area the constrict and reduced the amount of "fluid" that can build up in the area that has already swelled ..........Maybe I am mistaken but causing more trauma to an area is defeating the object

A cornerman often tries to 'iron out' the swelling by applying force and motion the endswell to the side, rather than pressing straight down on the swelling itself.

I do think it's worth them having another look into the science and medical benefits/consequences of using the endswell giving the injuries in recent years.

I don't see why they can't leave it at applying an ice pack to the damaged area.

Really clutching at straws , i knew a great trainer who actually rarely used and endswell he would use his thumbs to push ouyt swelling , i think what the problem here is'nt the use or non use , its the EXCUSE

wHEN A FIGHTER gets a big mouse under the eye it used to be called a MOUSE , NOW especelly with british fighters its called a broken eye socket

Well let me tell you after a lenghthy disusion with a doctor and surgeon a few years ago , they told me my broken orbital bone ABOVE the eye would heal ok , BUT if it was under the eye surgery and a plate would be needed to stop the eye from dropping ,,, Do these same guys have the plate put in .

Or do they just quit cos they got hit hard

Tibbs wouldn't say it was broken he specifically used the term damaged, also he didn't want to discuss what was said in the corner.

Correct Coco ,,,, I could'nt quite make out what he was saying , I originally thought he was asking do you want me to stop it , but after wards thought it was do you want to go on ,, because the answer was , shake the head and NO and that was a distinc e twice

I’ve commented on a interview about the injury and they knew when he came back, well it’s lies and fair play but there covering for billy quitting, but if that was the case and they knew his eye was fractured then why would they allow the cut man to be pressing down on his cheek & eye with the enswell whilst tibbs was talking to billy Joe ? You wouldn’t do it even if you suspected the eye was injured because if you think that and the bone is broken or fractured and you use the enswell and put pressure on you will smash the whole cheek bone/eye socket etc that is broke, so it’s all bulls hit, Saunders didn’t want no more he was gassed, had a tough round 8 and knew he was getting knocked out and lost his arse, coward end of

Didn’t fancy going out on his shield. Bet he was knackered after years of inconsistent training (mostly not training) and knew he was going to be banged out.

Its hard to see from that pic ,, but if it was they would'nt or should'nt be pushing an endswell on it ,, so i would gather no it was'nt ,, we will see , i stated on another post ,, when i damaged my orbital bone , the hospital told me , you damaged th top , if it was the bottom it would be surgery and a plate put in to stop the eye from falling ,, lets see if he has a plate ... if its caved in has there saying he's finished

Why are British fighters affected by this more than foreign fighters who also use the Endswell?

Or is the Endswell usage less prevalent in the US or Europe? I wasn't aware of that if it is the case.

Dubois was having endswell applied to his already broken orbital bone, as was brook.

That doesn’t make sense, you worry about incompetence. Liabilities
