Answer would be the same no matter who the fighter was, YES he quit, he came back after a terrible 8th round, the toughest round of the fight and didn’t like the feeling, knowing he was going to get starched in the next round his heart & ar se went and said (openly on camera, Mic caught him saying it) I can’t see, I can’t go back out, ask by Tibbs do you want me to pull you out, he replied yes

He Quit, the corner never made the decision

Interesting that all of the Matchroom/MTK fighters aren't pedaling the quiter narrative. Quite a change from Dubois. Presumably not under orders of the management(s) this time around..

The camera was on him the whole time after the 8th round - we could all see he wanted out; his cornermen could too. Therefore there is no arguing that he quit.
Better question is - should he have given it another round?
At that point it was no doubt hurting; but not so much that he couldnt tolerate his cornerman using the endswell to try push the swelling away.

100% yes,to say to fury during a run "Id rather win and take my last breath than lose this fight" then get a crack in the eye and repeatedly say no to his corner between rounds tells me all I need to know about him.

Tibbs said, that had been his call, but Saunders' body language had been saying everything. Saunders also didn't object. No shame it this though, his cheek-bone got visibly smashed.

In theory yes but I'll always give dues to fighters who bail on broken eyes or jaws, thats a pain that most boxers dont go through, Brook and Dubois endured more than Saunders was willing to, he took 1 shot then bailed, eyes in bad ways by all accounts but he didnt last long enough to pass the test imo, lucky for him tbf but he loses the moral high ground and im still buzzing like a jar of wasps, talk sh1t get banged innit

Anthony Bellew has not said a word about this fight. Complete silence. I wonder why?

He wanted out, he gave his title away. The problem with people saying fans have too much expectation on how far a fighter should push himself is that it isn’t the fans that set the bar, the bar for what is possible in a boxing ring and what a fighter can go through is set by boxers, fans have seen boxers set the bar and that’s the standard other boxers will be judged by, for example a fighter will get no sympathy pulling out with a broken jaw, not when we’ve seen fighters win while carrying that same injury.

He quit. He should have come out for the next round. All the bravado pre fight, and showboating during the fight. It was all to mask fear, just like Canelo said.
Although I gave him a few rounds, he had a scared way about him from the start, and pulling out just summed up the hunch I had about him.
A lot of the UK media are behind him. I guess its hard to call someone a quitter when you will have to meet them at various engagements in the future. Froch was uncertain what to say as it was unfolding, but post fight was all praise for BJS, calling him a warrior etc, all bollocks IMO.
Eddie is reporting multiple fractures to his orbital bone. Next he will be releasing X Ray's to prove the damage. Then we will be getting mummified pictures of BJS all wrapped up in bandages post surgery. All designed to save BJS reputation, and keep his stock high.
Anyone know how much he got paid for that showing?

Weren't IFL calling for scans of Dubois's injury to prove it was real as well? Yet they seem to have accepted this was genuine without any scans...

Yes he couldve pleaded for another round with tibbs. But i dont think he will be the same after this. These kind of injuries never heal the right way.

I've read he got about 6,000,000 that would most likely be dollars

He did sit on his stool and not come out, in essence he did quit, but honestly I don't blame him. His face was broken into bits.
Lets have it right though, he' a victim of his own making when it comes to people having little sympathy for him.
IFL are on full defensive mode for Saunders today, as they where in the build up. I hope matchroom starts restricting their access and giving more to Boxing social who blitzed IFL this past week with content.

He wouldn’t have been pulled out the fight if it wasn’t for that injury so no I wouldn’t class that as quitting. You would have to be some sort of idiot to box on with a fractured eye socket. I get people don’t like him and he’s said and done some stupid things, but he done the right thing. I reckon his career will be over now if the damage is as bad as they have said. If not over he won’t be the same fighter.

Mark tibbs has come out and said "i didn't get the response i wanted from him so had to pull it".
For me that means he spewed it.
Now given the injury i'd normally say there's nothing wrong with bailing out with a broken eye socket but when you've mocked other fighters for quitting for the same reason you obviously leave yourself open for some harsh criticism.

Remind me...didn't Dubs fight a round or so with that confirmed broken orbital bone?

With Dubs, he had the injury, didn't quit on his stool but stayed down after taking a punch on it.

Right...he fought on with it, but found it too excruciatingly painful and got worried about how it felt. My point as a comp to BJS absolutely quitting on his stool with no effort to carry on. His eye didn't look as bad as Dubs.
