• Fight E = Winner of D vs. Winner of C
• Fight F = Canelo vs. Winner of E

• Fight G = David Benavidez vs. Daniel Jacobs
• Fight H = Artur Beterbiev vs. Joe Smith Jr.
• Fight I = Dmitry Bivol vs. Gilberto Ramirez
• Fight J = Winner of G vs. Winner of H
• Fight K = Winner of J vs. Winner of I
• Fight L = Canelo vs. Winner of K

I truly understand the concept I’m proposing is utterly ludicrous and I deserve to be ridiculed for even considering such a notion, but I can’t help feeling that it would be good to see these fights happening.

Caleb Plant should be facing David Benavidez one week before. Benavidez v Uzcategui should be called off, but perhaps Uzcategui could keep the date against someone else such as: Anthony Dirrell, Shishkin, Caleb Truax; on Showtime.

I'm not that excited about it either, but Plant is the legit champ and deserves the right to sell his belt. Seems v.predictable...,
Plant gives him a competitive scrap in a losing effort. Similar to BJS, not quite as shifty, but less fragile.

I think Benavidez has "a chance" - that would be good.

I have this strong suspicion that Beterbiev has already missed the proverbial bus. His time as a top fighter may have already expired.

Artur Beterbiev has been lavished with excessive praise and hype after beating the mentally-scarred Oleksandr Gvozdyk, coupled with hitting the deck during the course of his win against the European level Callum Johnson.

However, those are the Russian's only professional career highlights within the last six years, because the calibre of names on his resume are generally poor.

Beterbiev hasn’t delivered an impressive performance for 19 months and (by his own admission) he looked poor during his most recent outing against Adam Deines.

And finally, a counter-puncher like Canelo, does A LOT better against offense-minded, aggressive come-forward types, like Beterbiev.

It seems likely that Canelo is facing Caleb Plant in September, which means that Beterbiev will be 37 years of age by the time he receives the earliest realistic opportunity for his shot at the Mexican.

If Canelo faces Beterbiev and beats him, then the Mexican will receive the same sort of criticism he received when he defeated The RING’s second highest-rated 175lb-er, Sergey Kovalev.

Canelo's critics will just say that he simply beat an old fighter, regardless their pre-fight excitement.

In the meantime, Beterbiev needs to rebuild, prove his lofty status in the sport and earn his opportunity at Canelo by defeating someone like Dmitry Bivol, Gilberto Ramirez or Joe Smith Jr. in impressive fashion.

He can't afford to adopt a self-preservation safety-first approach to preserve his spot in the Canelo mega-payday queue (like most big-name fighters appear to be doing), because time isn't on Beterbiev's side.
