not who you think he will fight next, but who you want him to fight next

Beterbiev is the best fight.

He would beat plant fairly easily so I don’t care about that. I want to see Beterbiev, it would be war.

Beterbiev or Benavidez.
I wouldn't mind Charlo neither.

Canelo fought light-heavyweight only one time, I doubt he would fight Beterbiev, Beterbiev > Kovalev is obvious (Beterbiev even win against Kovalev in 2007) and he can match Canelo's power + he has size advantage over Canelo, so I think its a bad match-up for Canelo, so I doubt this fight will happen.
But since Canelo is after super middleweight undisputed title, Plant fight is obviously going to happen, Benavidez > Plant, so he should fight Benavidez after Plant.

I’d like Canelo’s next two bouts to be against:
• Canelo vs. Caleb Plant (title unification)
• Canelo vs. Mairis Briedis (one-off catchweight fight against an aging veteran and a winner of the WBSS)
I’d also like to see fighters earning their shot at Canelo, rather than biding their time and also choosing to be risk averse, by engaging in mismatches against badly overmatched opposition.
Therefore, I feel that Canelo could then engage in two massive fights against the winners of the following Round-robin tournaments:
• Fight A = Jermall Charlo vs. Demetrius Andrade
• Fight B = Gennadiy Golovkin vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko
• Fight C = Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Ryota Murata
• Fight D = Winner of A vs. Winner of B
• Fight E = Winner of D vs. Winner of C
• Fight F = Canelo vs. Winner of E
• Fight G = David Benavidez vs. Daniel Jacobs
• Fight H = Artur Beterbiev vs. Joe Smith Jr.
• Fight I = Dmitry Bivol vs. Gilberto Ramirez
• Fight J = Winner of G vs. Winner of H
• Fight K = Winner of J vs. Winner of I
• Fight L = Canelo vs. Winner of K
I truly understand the concept I’m proposing is utterly ludicrous and I deserve to be ridiculed for even considering such a notion, but I can’t help feeling that it would be good to see these fights happening.

Or a super 6 round Robin type thing like they had with froch, Taylor, kessler etc. The top 6 ranking fighters including champions fight each other on scheduled events over 2/3 years.
This way all fights are competitive & it gives fans some tasty match ups. Canelo will probably come out on top but he'll have fought the best the division has to offer & who knows, after the round Robin, another beast might emerge from the rest of the division.

Has to be plant for undisputed. But after that he can just pick the biggest fight and orchestrate everything.
I’d like to see him use his position if power to call his own eliminators between actual good fighters not ranked fighters why not. People do what the sanctioning body’s want because they wanna fight for a belt, well now they want canelo cash so fornicate it you run 160-175 now, call your fights...
if canelo said “charlo vs andrade 168, I’ll fight the winner may 2022” he could make a split based on how he values them fornicate he could take it to purse bids if he wanted hahah. They would wanna fight cause if they win that’s there crack at the big cash.

I get that’s a bit hypocritical, I kinda hate the sanctioning body’s but for the most part do recognise there champs because it’s convention I guess. But that’s why I want canelo to go undisputed, I think that gives you a level of freedom to say, if finnished this game, I’m the boss now at 168.
Unless he goes and clears 175, I can live with that, some solid belt holders up there. But I hope canelo never faces a mandatory just because it’s mandatory again he is more qualified to pick who’s worthy rather than let another yildrem get the fight or somthing...

In terms of wet dreams: Charlo, Beterbiev.
In terms of reality: Plant, Benavidez.

plant has defended against cans and can stink it up a bit, i get it's undisputed and all that, but it doesnt add any extra interest for me in terms of the actual fight in the ring. plant is another guy who got the belt and played it totally safe to hold out for canelo
plant wouldnt be in my top 5 of who'd id be excited for canelo to fight

Zach Parker, his WBO mandatory, for Mexican Independence Day Weekend.
Caleb Plant should be facing David Benavidez one week before. Benavidez v Uzcategui should be called off, but perhaps Uzcategui could keep the date against someone else such as: Anthony Dirrell, Shishkin, Caleb Truax; on Showtime.

The obvious next step is Plant but that's another predictable win for Canelo. I voted for Beterbiev, now that would be a real test for him and would be something to get excited about.

I have this strong suspicion that Beterbiev has already missed the proverbial bus. His time as a top fighter may have already expired.
Artur Beterbiev has been lavished with excessive praise and hype after beating the mentally-scarred Oleksandr Gvozdyk, coupled with hitting the deck during the course of his win against the European level Callum Johnson.
However, those are the Russian's only professional career highlights within the lastsixyears, because the calibre of names on his resume are generally poor.
Beterbiev hasn’t delivered an impressive performance for 19 months and (by his own admission) he looked poor during his most recent outing against Adam Deines.
And finally, a counter-puncher like Canelo, does A LOT better against offense-minded, aggressive come-forward types, like Beterbiev.
It seems likely that Canelo is facing Caleb Plant in September, which means that Beterbiev will be 37 years of age by the time he receives the earliest realistic opportunity for his shot at the Mexican.
If Canelo faces Beterbiev and beats him, then the Mexican will receive the same sort of criticism he received when he defeated The RING’s second highest-rated 175lb-er, Sergey Kovalev.
Canelo's critics will just say that he simply beat an old fighter, regardless their pre-fight excitement.
In the meantime, Beterbiev needs to rebuild, prove his lofty status in the sport and earn his opportunity at Canelo by defeating someone like Dmitry Bivol, Gilberto Ramirez or Joe Smith Jr. in impressive fashion.
He can't afford to adopt a self-preservation safety-first approach to preserve his spot in the Canelo mega-payday queue (like most big-name fighters appear to be doing), because time isn't on Beterbiev's side.

I'm not that excited about it either, but Plant is the legit champ and deserves the right to sell his belt. Seems v.predictable...,
Plant gives him a competitive scrap in a losing effort. Similar to BJS, not quite as shifty, but less fragile.
I think Benavidez has "a chance" - that would be good.

GOLOVKIN.
If it still didn't trickle thru...
triple G got fuckked over in their first fight which was wrongfully declared a draw only to rob him of his middleweight belts and deny him recognition as 'lineal' and 'the ring' middleweight champion in their second fight
NO WAY IN HELL WAS THE FIRST ONE A DRAW NOR DID CANELO WIN THAT 2ND FIGHT OR DID ENOUGH TO to deservedly take the belts off golovkin!
no fornicating way did canelo win that 2nd fight!!
so let canelo take another try to justifiably dethrone the true p4p number 1 who already beat him fairly twice. back to back.

at 168.
and for once with fair judging ffs.
I love the hustle but canelo destroys GGG at 168 now. 2015 GGG would fornicate current GGG up. He is fading and canelo is acending, that’s why I don’t wanna see it. Although if GGG wants the pay day he has event it.
If we could make 2015 ggg vs 2021 canelo I’d be keen as a bean but that’s not possible...

let's see.
i never said canelo isn't a top fighter, still getting better.
show me 2 scenes out of both fights where he made ggg REALLY back up! not to take a step back and a breather to come again nor to gesture to canelo to bring it on!
show me more than one exchange where golovkin was obviously rattled and backed up!
he wasn't HURT once in both fights, had canelo constantly on the backfoot for 12 rounds in the first one!
in the 2nd one canelo tried to stand his ground more persistently and it was a competitive affair but alvarez was on the short end of punches thrown and landed in 9 of 12 rounds even if u go by fuckkin compubox.
watch the fight in slow motion, count the punches to see it on your own who frikkin undoubtedly that fight as well.
show me an interaction where canelo visibly shook golovkin in the 2nd fight and made him back up/ HASTILY maneuver out of range!
you found that one?
show me another!
you won't frikkin find one!
and now tell me golovkin deserved to loose recognition as middle champ undisputed, lineal and ring plus loose all further and career long hard earned leverage as effin champion of the world for 20 defences ^ how many years?
so let's see canelo put a dent in ggg for once.
ggg isn't suddenly falling apart cause another year passes.
canelo won't knock out triple g, not in the next 10 years.
he will rise to the occasion and if after fair judging canelo is declared the winner golovkin will shake nelo's hand like he shook his head after the first two decisions. for the same reason at least. may the better man win.

Legitimately stopping gvod would be canelos best clear win.
The canelo criticism thing barely exists anymore. Some people will always hate but their numbers are approaching zero
