It appears that this site, at least the forum portion, is under constant attack by hackers after personal info. I have recognized being redirected to fake sites and the site appears to have been taken down more than once, just in the last few days since my return.

Hacking is rampant these days, as evidenced by one of my mortgage companies having most of their clients personal info compromised by way of hack, including mine, this year.

It would be appropriate if admin could openly address the issue.

I don't understand why anybody would hack this site. Serious question, what personal info would these hackers be after? I'm not clued up on this stuff at all . I guess I could see why they would go after a mortgage company as there's money and bank accounts ect but what would they be looking for on these forums?

I was redirected to some weird site the other day when trying to get onto here.

Email addresses and passwords, a lot of people use the same logins for multiple sites

I’ve not noticed anything, although only come here via an iPhone if that makes any difference

The forum software is pretty ancient, I suppose but I am a luddite and don't know if that makes it any more vulnerable. I use a email address and password for this site that I don't use anywhere else.

Yeh think it was last week , i could'nt get on for a few hrs , was just directed to some other site , can't remember what it was , think it was something to do with money lending

Previously my browser has said the site was not secure. But as of yesterday it has a locked key lock. Looks like it’s a secure connection now.

I've not had any issues being redirected to any other sites. Of course we get several attempts from first time posters that give dodgy links or are advertising fake passports and qualifications every now and again but those posts are never approved and the fakersters are instantly banned.

Ive not seen any evidence of hackers however I'm not on the front line on the web design of the site so I cannot comment on that but in all honesty the only people that try to get through are those who are giving links to sites that could possibly infect your device if pressed.

I sometimes google a website rather than typing in the full URL.

One of the search engines gives results from 151.boxrec.com

I think it's a placeholder domain from when the last update went on? I could be wrong, the threads seem to be a couple of months out of date.

According to multiple search engines, the site url was being redirected to an unauthorized/unauthenticated server for about 15 minutes yesterday morning (here). Prior to that, I have been redirected to multiple imposter sites over the last few four days. It has been fine for the last 24 hours, as far as I can discern.

Is anyone else getting the html treatment at the moment, or is admin just fornicating with me?

Mine has gone all 1990s!

Our DNS registry failed https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_Solutions and instead of sending out 404s they sent out adverts for spammy sites. They are truly scum bags, I am shocked they thought it would acceptable to anyone to fail and then try to make money off their own failure
