Calzaghe should retire.

He is a knob and a joke.

Both in real life and in boxing.

THought the articles comment about sven ottke - "ottke, who tends to avoid anyone with a pulse" was way off the mark. Although in my mind there is no doubt calzaghe is the better fighter but ottke's list of opponents is much better.

I doubt Joe Calzaghe will ever be considered Great, certainly not in world terms.

Unless his next few fights include victories over Johnson, Tarver and Hopkins.

Very true - Anybody who partially unified the title with two major sanctioning bodies did not "avoid anyone with a pulse". He also won the title from the champion. Not an aging, weight drained fighter who came in on 3 days notice.

I'm actually not convinced who would have won the match between Joe and Sven. Two of the three common opponents said it would have been close, only Robin Reid went for a clear Calzaghe win.

Next for Calzaghe is a trip to Argos to pick up some new gym equipment.

Then start training for a March fight but decide mid/late february you cant really be arsed and call the fight off, reschedule for May, start training in April, cancel mid/late April and so on and so forth.

Bit off luck , the dole office , he can get a proper job and stop making an ass out of british boxing , the mans a fackin joke

I edited the piece and thought the Ottke comment was a bit bold but you have to let people have their opinions.

And then I also remembered Ottke was a twat.

And typical of people to pick out something to fornicating moan about from the lad's article. For a first piece it was excellent.

As for Calzaghe, his legacy will read 'waste of talent'. Unless something remarkable happens in the next couple of years which doesn't look very likely.

Shame - he could have been an all-time British great, in my opinion.

Maybe, but unless Calzaghe acheives something remarkable in the next couple of years of his fading career, Sven Ottke goes down in history as the better Super-Middleweight of this particular era.

even though i believe Calzaghe was the better fighter and would have panned ottke, i have to agree, Ottke's resume, sick as it makes me to say it, so far looks better, though I would like to see a tape of every defence before I say that, as there's been a lot of rather angry people after fihting him.

Jeff Lacy seems to be overtaking Calzaghe for me in the division, his career is slipping so much. he needs that fight with glen Johnson if he can even come through the tarver rematch with a win

If Tarver wins, you can bet your ass he'll be a right bastard to negotiate with, Tarver really believes he's a superstar, whereas Glen is a fighter who will fight anyone.

I hope Johnson wins again.

Joe must have made some good money so far in his carrer (i presume) so why not risk a big fight, if Joe doesnt take a career defining fight before he retires that to me says he was in boxing for the money not for limelight or the legacy he could achieve. What i'm trying to say is forget the money, he surely must be loaded already, now try and make a name for yourself Joe, so people remember you as 'The Man' and not the gut who fought bums.
