I've had enough of boxing. Enjoy it on here but can't abide the telly. I've watched ams since the 80's then I'm being told Conor Benn is ppv. Or Campbell Hatton. I can't even justify the bill at the end of the month to my wife. The last time I went to a small hall show to support a friend it cost about hundred quid all in for us both. The opponent didn't try. It was crap. Then she hit me with "we could have gone away this weekend with that". Obviously I'll still be around for the ones I'm interested in but my God, Buatsi..... I'll only watch Dalton Smith on that. Plus ams live.

I think I reached that stage a couple of years back mate.

My boxing days are just like My football days, don’t watch any of it anymore, I’ll always watch that vidiprinter on Saturday and look at the results on boxrec after the events but that’s as far as I go.

Same tbh,was reading about some unbeaten UK prospect recently and realised that I`d never heard of him,I`d have know his inside leg measurement a decade ago.
Still appreciate the skill and courage but the mismatches and predictability have worn me out.

I don’t mind paying for BT, Sky but if I was paying just for the boxing and not much else I’d feel like it’s not value for money.

I don’t hate this weekend’s show as much as some people but it’s the only show on normal Sky Sports this month which isn’t good enough. BT aren’t showing anything either.

DAZN is really good value though at present.

I hear people say that small hall shows are the life blood of boxing but 95% of the fights involve a fighter with no aspirations of winning so I’ve little interest in them anymore unless someone I’m mates with is fighting.

I still enjoy a big show with my mates. Whether it’s AJ/Fury or a really well matched fight at a good level I’ll usually try and go and, if I can’t, then will get a chinese, friends over and get the beers going.

I’ve missed going to the local am shows over the last 12 months though.

Re live shows I agree about amateurs. Love a good amateur show. 5-10 quid on the door and evenly matched bouts. Even at the novice level two donkeys make a great derby!

Agreed, something I’ll have to make more effort over. I enjoyed my last afternoon at an AMA show more than all but maybe a handful of pro shows I ever went to.

Bold statement, but I have never seen a well matched pro show through the card. The horrible thing is, the opponent doesn't even expect to win.

Can’t be fucked with it anymore. Why even stay up (til 6am) to stream when the fighters today are more than likely to just quit when punched in the face.

I was a huge York fan in the 90's , always kept an eye out for there results still. But don't go anymore. Nevertheless we've got a few hundred going to a reunion when fans are allowed in to our new ground. I doubt many will go after that.

I've posted on and off on here for nearly 20 years in various guises but I promise this will be my final post. I too have had enough of how professional boxing has gone. There is too much talk, too much social media, too much gambling, and too many celebrity 'fighters' getting paid a fortune to under-deliver.

I'm going to put my money and time exclusively into youth amateur boxing and youth amateur MMA.

Fair well, brothers, especially Counter-Puncher, Carlos and Deserter.

Actually I have. Don King put on some serious cards in the 90's, 4 or 5 top class title fights. Not Terri Harper.

Shame York city won’t put a bus on for you lads to get into the centre.....the race track put plenty on to take punters to the centre

I still love my boxing, ive had a dodgy box for a few years so subscriptions and PPVs are a thing of the past but i can understand why people are turned off, not enough big fights happening or have happened over the years, fights "marinating ", guys on "other side of street", too many belts, WBA and WBC not even hiding the fact anymore that they're in it to milk it dry, drug cheats, the list is endless

The wmc next to the old ground is. Its about an hour journey. York traffic on a Saturday with tourists you barely move.

Plus the races come first. Maybe 40,000 people on a very good day. Different level. They fill hotels, restaurants, pubs, police cells.

I’m definitely less interested in sport in general since not being able to attend. I forked out to renew my season ticket again this year too, ffs.

And I don't think anyone on the reunion list would be welcomed by the club!

Through the whole card, probably not, close to it once or twice and 4 close fights would’ve been well above average

I agree with the sentiments but make exceptions for good matches now and then. Like keeping an ex who used to be hot and is still ok on the back burner for the occasional quicky

I’ve said before but Floyd PAC killed it for me. How good it could have been and wasn’t just because boxing.
