Boxing by it's actual nature of being is very unfair. I suppose the Paul brothers getting money, exposure and in the end - the big purses that honest pros dream of is a good example of boxing being unfair.

The Paul brothers have the money and means to develop their boxing skills to an extent where they can be competitive to a certain point but it doesn't matter after that because the sport is so bent, it will accomodate them if they can sell millions in PPV revenue and this is where the sport is going - along with politics - celebrity posers headlining cards and running the shop.

Didn't the youtuber boxing card the other year do some of the best PPV figures of all time? If so, that is the direction we're heading to.

Not to say those kind of fights can't be entertaining, that red nose day boxing match every year between celebrities is always bang on entertaining!

I’d say boxing has always been dreadfully unfair. Crooked and ungrateful. Fighters are chewed up, used and spat out.

As to being unfair - I’ll pull this one out. Tiberi not getting the verdict against Toney. Should’ve been the ultimate underdog story, but hey, who cares about a no name boxer like Tiberi?

Sweet Pea v Ramirez and JCC. He deserved to be undefeated going into the ODLH fight. His entire career could have been different, potentially with less personal issues.

Lesser acts of unfairness happen on a weekly basis.

Underdogs put in career best performances and don’t get the win they deserve.. if they are lucky they might get a rematch

Jimmy Vincent v David Barnes is one that I always thought fell into this category. Was gutted for him at the time. It just looked like he was judged on a spotty record rather than what happened in the ring

Possibly the only Jimmy Vincent fight I ever saw, but I remember this. Seemed like it was on ShoBox back in 2003 or something. Maybe 2004.

Boxing will always be unfair to some extent unless it’s a clear knockout or there is one universal governing body that has real powers.

Some excellent choices. The referee in Gonzalez-Coggi is as bent as it gets and Lopez lucked out against Clemente and should have given him a rematch. One that always comes to my mind is Greg Haugen's defence of his IBF lightweight title against Miguel Santana in 1988. Haugen was coming off a big win over Vinny Pazienza and was expected to take care of Santana with relative ease but Santana stuck it out in the early rounds and then began to boss the fight.
In the eleventh of a scheduled 15-rounder, the two men clashed heads and Haugen came away with a bad cut and the fight was stopped. Santana was then announced as the winner and new champion, only to be told in his dressing room that the fight should have gone to the cards and that Haugen was ahead on points and was still champion. Santana deserved a second shot but it never happened. Sadly, the fight was off-TV.

Even though I did prefer Witter over Hatton, I do think it would have been a Wide UD for the Hitman
