Era of the Little Little Guys?

Increasingly we are seeing high level boxing from 108-130 pounds. The Mayweather/De La Hoya/Pac era (mid 2000s - late 10s) was sometimes called the era of the little guys. Heavyweight was held captive by not so fun to watch brothers from the other side of the world. The biggest PPVs were at welterweight, junior welter, or super welter.
With the exception of Canelo, most of the best boxing is taking place below lightweight. Are we in the era of the little little guys? There are some potential superstars (Estrada, JCM, Figueroa, Valdez) who could sell sub-lightweight main events to the boxing PPV base. Canelo’s latest co-main was a 108 pound showdown. It’s not crazy to believe in it, especially with Wilder on the outs and the heavyweight title landing in the UK for a while.
