Out of interest I just watched round 12 of Eubank Watson 2 (seen before but I just wanted to concentrate and look at Watson instead of the whole setting).
Really is shocking how the referee has to help him to the middle of the Ring and on his way his legs do a funny dance, he is clearly out of it, not sure on how he stands up from the corner, did he get help or stand on his own accord?
Anyway what other boxers were in a state of disrepair and sent out in a from the corner for another round when they were clearly gone and it clearly obvious to see?
I know some people don’t like the fact trainers pull here fighters out but seeing boxers like that just isn’t right.

An old mate of mine Matt Barr got his jaw broke and lost 6 teeth against John Humphrey in the first round. After surviving a couple of knockdowns he made it to the end of the round while his shattered teeth were getting swept off the canvas, nevertheless his old man sent him out for the second.....

Enzo Maccarinelli after the first knockdown against Alexander Frenkel. No way should he have been allowed to continue and he was then unsurprisingly badly KO’d.

Incredible story and a brilliant post. Absolutely staggering. The best example of the brutality of this sport that we all love that I think I’ve ever read. Incredible bravery from the fighter coupled with a complete lack of regard for the fighters safety from others, in this case, shamefully, his father. Sums up boxing on so many levels.

I remember that fight , Barr had caused an upset stopping the hard hitting John boy 18 months earlier, taking his unbeaten record.
Humphrey was really fired up for the rematch and was a decent puncher, especially at welterweight.
As you say Barr ended up in a bad way losing teeth and getting his jaw broken, but he bounced back well after the loss with a string of wins.
John needed some stitches himself and had a good career that was cut short for reasons unknown .. his dad who was an absolutely lovely man passed away and I think he may have decided to hang up the gloves. His dad had trained him alongside Jack and Martin Bowers.
His spars with light welter French Algerian tough guy Karim Bouali in the Peacock Gym were better than most of the fights you see on primetime Saturday night Sky.
Karim was another one who retired too soon.

I shared a changing room with Karim in Cleethorpes one night, could barely speak English, lovely bloke, brought in as the opponent and battered the home man. He really could fight, typical case of no one wanting to fight him and he didnt have a promoter behind him. If only he could have sold tickets!!

I saw his pro debut against Keith Palmer where he kept picking himself up off the floor until the ref intervened. If Barr had just chosen to box more that would have been a much easier night.

Milton McCrory vs Don Curry. Milton gets sparked by one of the ATG left-hooks.
For some reason the ref let him go on and Curry walked up and had a free hit at a still dazed fighter...not surprisingly he ruined him.

fernando montiel f@cking went spastic and rode a bicycle while on his back after being flattened by nonito donaire, tried getting up but fell back down, somehow ends up making it to his feet but is totally gone and unresponsive to the ref....which gives the ref the great idea he should let montiel carry on vs a massive puncher at that weight..
could've ended a lot uglier

That was a fantastic left hook,the irony of that is Curry himself got flattened by an equally great left hook years later.

I still don't know what Paul Hodkinson's corner were about in the first fight with Marcos Villasana, sending out Hodkinson for the eighth round when he could barely see.
