I don't care what anybody says, but I put the great Roberto Duran of that night in Montreal against any other welterweight and some middleweights in history. He gave a performance of the ages, probably the best in the last 41 years. I will put my money on Duran here with blind faith.

Now, at 154lbs and beyond, I will pick the great Sugar Ray Robinson. I even put my money, with blind faith, on the great Sugar Ray Leonard against Robinson, too.

But also, if Leonard fights Robinson at 154lbs and above, then I'll pick Robinson.

Robinson has too much power for Duran at 147. SR would have him holding on late to survive. Robinson by about 7 pts.

Sin lugar a dudas, Roberto "Manos de Piedra" Durán, le ganaría, le hubiese costado, pero Durán, era inigualable.
Durán, por decisión :TU:

Leonard was a sorta more advanced version of Robinson, that's why I won't pick Robinson over Duran of the 1st Leonard bout.

SSR by split decision in a close fight by jabbing and landing great combinations on the outside without giving Duran space to attack him on the inside. However, Duran may had the moment to slip and counter SSR's great combinations in certain rounds to make the fight more interesting and exciting, but Robinson would still win by a close decision.

Sugar Ray Robinson wins this close. I look at Sugar Ray Robinson as the greatest welterweight of all time. Sugar Ray Leonard i would say is a close second. Roberto Duran is the greatest lightweight of all time. Robinson was at his very best at this weight and he was great at middleweight but beatable. Duran convincingly defeated Leonard at welterweight the first time by taking him off his game and luring him into a macho slugfest which was Durans game. Robinson was too slick and had better power than Leonard especially at welterweight. Duran is a defensive wizard very underrated boxer he did win some great fights at higher weights but i believe he lost a step or two when he moved up from the lightweight division. Just as Robinson lost a step or two when he moved up from welterweight. The question was asked Roberto Duran vs Sugar Ray Robinson 147 lbs. The answer is simple to me Sugar Ray Robinson Great matchup great fight Robinson too slick too busy and too large. Robinson maybe 10-5 9-6 not a runaway or a destruction but unanimous and convincing he does not knock out the great Duran. I also believe quite possible these are two of the best pound for pound boxers of all time but being this is Robinsons best division he wins.

Robinson would win. The big question would be what excuse would be used for Duran this time? Several have already been used.

It certainly won't be Sugar Ray Leonard's "I didn't fight my fight" crap.

If you were smart enough, you would have figured out that it is not a an excuse, but a criticism of himself. He lost and knew he had no one to blame. He won the rematch. Duran has no one to blame either for his loss.
Duran won the first fight. Leonard won the second. End of story.

Only a biased Sugar Ray fan boy would say that that was the same Roberto Duran that fought in Montreal. You talk like if you are the mr know it all and I am not smart enough? Don't make me laugh, boy! I doubt that you are smarter than I am.

Some of your posts don't make any sense whatsoever. They are as stupid as the next dumb man sometimes. And you want to match wits and smarts with me?

Don't insult people by telling them they are not smart enough. Because by the same measure you will be judged. You get the point? Talk about boxing, boy! Not about me! I know who I am.

So check yourself, you dig?

Never said that it was the same Duran that fought in Montreal that fought in New Orleans. It also wasn't the same Leonard either. Of course you always ignore that.

Leonard beat him the rematch more easily than Duran won the first fight. Might have been a reason that Duran immediately fled the welterweight division after being stopped by Leonard. Leonard have beat Duran a year later, two years later. Duran could not deal with a great fighter who could outbox him. Benitez out boxed him as well.

No, I don't want to "match" wits with you. It would be embarrassing for anyone to "match" wits with with you.
I talk about boxing. I just don't move the goal posts like you. You almost make crybaby excuses for your favorites losses. I don't do that.
I'm not a phony who pretends to like a guy (like Leonard) so that can try to come off an impartial.

Duran and Leonard fanbois are killing each other in a more brutal fashion than Duran and Leonard themselves. :OhYes:

Well, talk about boxing then. Because you cannot match me in any topic. Talk about boxing, not about me or who were my teachers or whatever. They don't got nothing to do with you nor any topic. So, stay away, okay boy?

If I make crybaby excuses, that is my problem. I don't make excuses. You are the one that makes them when Sugar Ray lost. I hope that you get that clear, boy!

That's Alpy, he always goes personal, when you critisize his ravings. :OhYes:

But, to be honest, you both guys go too much with duranism and leonardism respectively. :maybe:

By 15 round UD.
