Taylor is saying he’ll honour the WBO mandatory, however, IF something bigger comes along, he will take it.

Taylor should get no stick if he fights Catterall. Nice fight in the UK, between 2 Brits.

Hearn wanted AJ-Fury to be the first all-British undisputed title fight.

Once you have all the belts, just fight mandatories.

Ok for a homecoming then Taylor can chase some legacy

Perfectly legitimate fight, and it will further build his domestic following.

They should get this fight out of the way by the end of August.

It’s a shame Catterall has zero profile. He should have been kept active, fighting every 3 months over the last 2 years and fights against better opposition than he’s been fighting.

Yeah - it is a shame Catterall has no profile - its a good fight, off course Taylor is rightfully quite a big favourite - but Catterall is better than what the American public will view him as.

Great homecoming but Taylor will have a lot too lose in fighting him.

Taylor has a lot to lose no matter who he fights going forward.

Agree , use the belts to earn a good quid , then start to cash out in a year or two

Decent fight for UK fans, although realistically Taylor will be a very strong favourite. Be interesting to see how Catterall performs as he seems to have stagnated a bit. Either way, he should get a decent pay day and Taylor will get some much needed exposure. Criminal that last nights fight wasn’t more widely broadcast over here.

I’m not even sure it’s a good fight because I’ve no idea how good Catterall is. His best win is probably the close win he had against Ohara Davies whilst we know what Taylor did to an undefeated OD.

What’s the crack with the mandatories?

Is it every year or every 18 months ?

Sadly it will only be a matter of time before the belts start disappearing, but that's in the future and irrespective....we all know who the world champion is.

Catterall's a lucky man to be getting a shot at an undisputed world champion. He hasn't really impressed since beating Brough and Stalker, just kept winning comfortably against unspectacular opposition.

So whilst Taylor has been setting the world on fire with a string of scintillating performances against high risk opponents, Catterall has been underwhelming the Britis fans with low key wins. Funny old business

But from catterall's point of view if he'd of been kept more active he then would of maybe been beaten once or twice (he's only really domestic level) and there fore lost his mandatory position. Also he seems quite quiet/boring so in this era of "fast cars fake insta gangtsa beef" it would be pretty hard to build his profile up anyway

Anyone that goes life and death with O'Hara davis and Tyrone McKenna is gonna have a hard old time when they move up to Taylor's level

Taylor vacates, injured, as a favour for his MTK stablemate. Carterall fights a barely ranked South American for a soft pickup. Unification fight eighteen months down the line. My prediction.

You might be right but at least, if he won the other fights, he’d have a better chance against Taylor.

I agree he seems quite quiet so if you’re not going to generate interest you need to be fighting frequently to generate it.

jt also likes to counter punch and he'lll prob have little to work with in that regard

Has to take this fight. Even if he could weezle out it would be disrespectful I think, catteral showed class letting undisputed happen, if he got burnt here it wouldent be great for Taylor’s rep or the sports.. also Taylor is owed a fight at this levle back home.

Postol was the recent WBC mando, he got his chance against Ramirez.

Not sure about WBA and IBF.

He'll also be offered a few hundred grand or a few million.

If anyone deserves an easier first defence then it's Taylor.

If it happened in a few months I suppose it would be ok, because Taylor isn't on the W@rren plan of lots of pointless defences of a title against unimaginative opposition with the constant dangling of a carrot for bigger fights. We know Taylor goes after the juicy fights.

I still maintain Catteral finds himself in a very fortunate position. It might explain why he always appears like a Cheshire cat in interviews...maybe Jack knows something most of us don't :maybe:
