So listening to Eddie Hearn it seems like as he goes to DAZN there is going to be a "game changer" in terms of TV / Streaming coverage.

So in an "ideal" situation what would you like to see, how would you like it looked etc.

It might be a sign of my age, but I am slightly concerned with how Matchroom have been trying to "modernise" Snooker - something looks very wrong about Snooker players in sweat shirts - particularly in Snooker as some of the players are probably too old to look "trendy" in sweat shirts.

The bits I have seen of Matchroom boxing, have to say the casual look with hands in pockets doesn't look right, dare I say it it looks amateurish - but then I am of a certain age. I'm not a fan of "non boxing people" fronting shows - off course the I'm not expecting the main presenter to be an ex boxer but it should be someone who has spent a good portion of their life in the sport (whether that is as a journalist, commentator or more directly). That guy from saved by the bell is actually good, but he is still an actor who likes boxing essentially, similarly when I see Drake on these DAZN youtube things - I do think "and, you are Drake a musician".

So the question is what would you like to see boxing production / what would you like to see and how many presenters etc.

I’ve really liked the bulk of the Matchroom YouTube stuff. Some of it has given really good behind the scenes stuff. Buatsi was filmed after his last consoling the overmatched Frenchman - it’s had 100k views which likely won’t be too different to the amount of people that watched the fight but it’s made Buatsi seem more personable I think.

They did a really good build up show for Campbell Hatton’s debut with loads of stuff with Ricky and his family. It was shown on Sky pre fight as well YouTube/DAZN and did a similar thing for Conor Benn.

I like all that kind of stuff like I really enjoyed the 24/7 shows and even the contender series back in the day.

They’re not needed for me to watch the fight but for a lot of people who don’t follow boxing like most of us do they’re an entry point to watching a fight or getting in to the sport. My dad who normally doesn’t have a clue who’s fighting when was asking about Campbell’s debut and when Benn was fighting next.

Re: the live shows, I’m just a bit bored or he usual Sky team. I don’t hate Adam Smith like some do but I don’t rate him either. Plus I don’t really enjoy Nelson’s thoughts (Tennyson) or some of the other pro Sky guys. I like people to be impartial which isn’t what we always get on Sky. That said I quite like Macklin, Barry Jones and I don’t think Anna Woolhouse is a bad presenter. She needs to be little more forceful though and call out a Nelson for silly comments like a Paul Dempsey might.

Without going into specifics about commentating, presenting, pundits etc i like Barry Jones, Carl Frampton, Andy Lee, Chris Lloyd, Darren Barker, Lyndon Athur has inpressed me as well

I think some of the British Dazn cards gave fhe option of UK or US comms, how about an option for no comms just crowd ambience?

Chris Lloyd is about the best of the lot. Macklin, Smith, Nelson etc don't do a lot for me.

Ian Darke is the best boxing commentator in the UK, hands down.

Then rotate the above lot with him - not Barker for me though, or Lee, who knows his stuff but is too monotone at the minute, maybe he’ll loosen up. Took ages for Woodhall to find his feet, but he’s pretty decent now.

100% agree re Ian Darke.

However, the biggest issue is competitive fights - we could have the best commentator in the world, but if it's an 80/20 fight in favour of the home fighter, it's usually not great viewing. TV can have a big say on that point, if they want to.

I’d take a card of 80/20s! The issue across all promoters is the amount of 95/5s and 99/1s.

Eddie’s last U.K. show was saved by the unexpectedly competitive Yafai/Cunningham fight. Outside of that, every fight was heavily one sided.

FW’s show next week is even worse than that.

Barker will be definitely going.

Is Chris Lloyd the main interviewer guy for Matchroom....very similar to Sky's Andy Scott? Is it him who dresses very casual and has his hands in his pockets often....who ever that guy is...I think he asks good questions and is very good....but I dont like that casual look/approach if I'm being honest

I don't care about the boxer's back story. Most of them are dicks anyway, who wants to listen to a bunch of bravado coming from some jumped up tosspot going on about how hard he is working to beat his next overmatched tomato can

I like all that stuff but I’d rather have well matched fights and no hype rather than all the hype and build up and then a mismatch. For the sport to grow it ultimately needs both. Boxing has suffered for too long with the best fighters not fighting in meaningful regular fights and very few fighters are well promoted and widely known.

Boxing’s in a tough spot. When a US ppv has c.250k buys and is deemed a success we’ve got a problem. There are 3 US PPVs a couple of different networks across 21 days next month. None of them are fights that many of us were calling for beforehand. At least $150 to watch the 3 shows. Crazy.

Good shout with Lillis, I used to enjoy his meandering chats with Buncey in the wee small hours. I’m not a big fan of Rawling, he always seems just that bit too reverential to the boxers and he over eggs the apologies for corners swearing as if a genuine outrage had taken place

Yeah, definitely get Lillis in the studio. He's very astute with a shed load of experience and doesn't pull his punches.

He can be scathing at times, but can also shower praise too.

The B0xnat1on chats on the sofa leading up to an early hours big fight with Buncey and Lillis were fantastic.

give me two guys , who can't fight ,, but has long has there evenly matched and think they can fight , you'll get a good fight
