Live in Setanta (didn't I say setanta would pick it up?) delayed on BBC, shown on grandstand and later in the evening to on BBC and radio 5 live too.

Howard Eastman’s historic showdown with undisputed world middleweight champion and pound for pound king Bernard Hopkins at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles on February 19th is to be featured on both Setanta Sport and the BBC.

“I am delighted to officially announce that the country will have a wide selection of media outlets through which they can follow Howard Eastman in his challenge against Bernard Hopkins,” confirmed Eastman’s promoter Mick Hennessy.

“Setanta Sport will be offering UK viewers the chance to watch HBO’s live coverage of the fight and the three top supporting contests from the undercard for £14.95.

“The live broadcast will go out on Setanta PPV1, SKY Channel 435, from around midnight. Precise timings are to be confirmed shortly. Repeat broadcasts will be offered the following day at 9am and 4pm.”

Hennessy added: “We have also come to an arrangement with the BBC for the delayed rights.

“On Sunday 20th February they will show fifteen minutes of action in Grandstand and then a further 45 minutes of action in a stand alone slot at 10.30pm on BBC 2.

“Those without satellite who wish to follow the action live can tune into BBC Radio 5.

“This unique, cross network and cross media coverage will ensure that as wide an audience as possible can see Britain’s finest make history.”

it IS the live HBO feed.

Read the press release mate, it says it's the live HBO feed.

doesnt mean it will be hbo calling the fight, sky had the hbo feed of the gatti fight but used jim watt and adam smith. they also said 3 undercard fights, hbo are only showing 1!

Live without BBC commentary: doesn't get better than that. I'll probaby get this, even though I despise PPV (last one I payed for was Lewis - Tua).

PPV is good.... lets the consumer choose what they want, rather than shelling out monthly for garbage from the barnsley metrodome

To be honest, I don't give a damn if Stephen Hawking does the commentary (though it might lag a bit behind the action), so long as I get to see the fight.

The BBC will be showing delayed highlights the following day.

have the Beeb ever shown a fight which was on PPV the next day before, can't think of any off hand.

Have to laugh when I read BBC will be showing 15 minutes of action on Grandstand! .... they spend longer nattering over the latest foodfight between the Manc and Arse teams!.... christ I hate the BBC!!!... :x :x :x .

How much in advance of the fight would I have to order/book the PPV???

at least it's being shown on BBC2.

Hmm shall i stay up through the night totally knackered after work for the full LIVE broadcast or risk the 9am repeat hoping it will be an exact re-run well it will probably be the full main event and then highlights of the rest It's one of life's little problems again.

you can always tape the live one and watch it later.

Good point but when the missus get's in from work early in the morning and messes with the telly i am bound to end up with Big Brother coming on half way through the undercard ...again At least if i'm up at the time i can shove her out the room, i could leave a note but as we all know women and instructions don't mix well.

Excellent work by Hennesey. It must have been a hard sell to get Setanta to agree, as they seemed to have got their fingers burnt with their last boxing PPV - coincidently also a Hopkins fight I think.

He obviously talked a good game though - brilliant news.

According to boxingtalk, Witter vs Ndou is almost a cert. Non-televised though.
