Tony Galento vs Ron Stander

A battle of polished and ingenious tacticians. Who would win this chess match, how and why?
I lean more towards something like that. Even if Stander would have too much success at some point, Galento would have some beer after a bad round and he would come back stronger in a next one.Joe.Kelly wrote: ↑09 Jun 2021, 18:40 This would have been a free swinging brawl, not a chess match. I pick Galento as the winner. That's because Galento was a world-ranked contender for a few years, and he scored wins over other legitimate contenders. Stander, by contrast, was just a clubfighter for his entire career. So we're talking about a difference in class here.
This would be an interesting brawl. IMO, Galento would outhustle Ron. I guess Galento would have had a lot of infighting tricks that he could have used to get the upper hand in this affair. Galento was a veteran of 111 pro fights; that means he must have learned something about ring craft that less experienced fighters didn't know.
The bout might go the full distance, as Stander had a great chin. But Stander did have a proclivity toward cutting, usually when he was pounded hard and often by strong bangers. I think Galento hit hard enough that he might have cut Stander, and possibly won inside the distance for that reason.
