I'm considering starting one up, British based & focussed but giving coverage to European & world boxing also. Targeted towards the hardcore fans and novice/amateur/pro boxing crowds. I know theres a lot of boxing websites out there right now (and I've heard good things about britishboxing.net) so it'd have to offer a lot to stand out. This is just brainstorming at this point but some 'added value' features would include:

- DVD library. Get one or more suppliers together to create a library, put an online ordering system together.

- Training techniques and advice. Get contributions from fighters and trainers on their workouts and give training tips, fitness & technical advice etc.

- Video coverage. Getting out into the gyms, meeting fighters, get workout and sparring footage, video interviews, etc.

- Local gym listings, how to join a gym, start boxing, what to expect, etc.

- Boxing equipment shop.

- Aggregated results coverage. From MSG and the MGM to the Kingsway Leisure Centre in Widnes find out the fight results. (this bit would be automated, that goes for news also).

Like I say this is purely brainstorming at this point but IMO there is a niche out there for a site that doesn't just offer big fight results, news etc. (no disrespect intended to other sites), but also covers advice for actual or wannabe fighters on fitness and technique, video coverage and interviews right through to offering a five thousand (or whatever #) fight dvd library.

It would also offer the chance for those involved to put pen to paper (not literally of course) and try some writing, interview fighters, etc.

Again this is purely ideas at this stage but if anyone is at all even remotely interested or has any thoughts on this plan plz email me, even if its just to tell me its a stupid idea and will never work.

An expansion on the DVD idea: get an affiliation with the George Foreman grill, agree a link to his site for, say, a 10% cut. You'll be raking it in.

Seriously, if you see enough of a gap amongst the current boxing websites, go for it.

I fancy starting a sports newspaper. Why the feck doesn't Britain have a purely sport newspaper. (Daily Sport excluded for obvious reasons) Obviously It would need to offer more than the sports sections of current dalies, so, with boxing for example, you'd have a daily or weekly diary by some up and coming boxer, or maybe a journeyman, telling what he does. Stuff like that. Anyway. Thats enough

It had other sports aswell. I admit it was nothing like as good as the sport's papers in Italy and France, though.

On the subject of a sports paper, I can't understand why there isn't a quality daily sports paper either, especially when you consider how popular sport is. On the other hand, I suppose the tricky bit is what level to pitch it at. Maybe a quality sports weekly is a better way to go? Given the popularity of football it amazes me that there isn't a quality football weekly like, say, in Holland or Germany. In that respect boxing here is pretty well served.

See what you're saying though weatherman. I think you'd have to find some sort of middle ground, but I'd think slightly towards the upper end would be fine.

Only thing is, and this goes for all newspapers, it would obviously be beaten by the internet etc. for breaking news, so it would have to be mutch more thorough and deep to make the articles worth buying.
