Is Anthony Joshua the number one contender at heavyweight?

Three fights ago this fellow was knocked out. He avenged that ko loss by pathetically running away from his opponent during the rematch and picking up a very lame decision victory.
After going 1 (very ugly) and 1 with that opponent he took on Kubrat Pulev and needed four rounds more to do what Wlad Klit did six years ago and ko that man. I can't help but feel that AJ has not vindicated himself after the ko loss with these victories.
Is AJ really somehow above the man that ko'ed him? They are 1 and 1 and the quality of those victories are pretty much light years apart sort of putting that man infront of AJ in the hw line.
Is AJ worthy of facing the hw champion Tyson Fury? Shouldn't he first maybe prove himself vs the likes of Efe Ajagba and maybe Oleksander Usyk?

well andy ruiz is 0-1 vs joe parker, so if andy is above aj then joe must be ahead of andy and aj? and whyte is 1-0 vs parker so he must be above parker. and pov is 1-1 with whyte, so he must be at least even with whyte. and pov drew with hunter, so hunter must be even with pov and whyte, and hunter lost to usyk, so usyk must be above the whyte/pov/hunter trio
so, working from that, the hw rankings really look something like
fury
wilder
usyk
whyte,pov, hunter
parker
ruiz
joshua

While Ruiz's victory is more memorable than Joshua's victory in the rematch, Joshua's victory is more recent and the rest of his record is overwhelmingly better than Ruiz's. I'd say anybody arguing that Ruiz should be ranked ahead of him is an idiot.

I think AJ is.
Based on resume, and the ability to immediately and conclusively avenge a loss.
Fury is mentally weak. Who knows how he would cope with a loss.
Kebabs again?

Anthony Joshua may arguably be the number one contender but if he is then it's a very shaky rating. Anthony Joshua came out impressively when he knocked out Dillian Whyte and he was on a roll when he disposed of Eric Molina but ever since then he has looked weaker and worse fight after fight. To pick him to beat Deontay Wilder would be brave and one has to question if he would get by Dillian Whyte or Joseph Parker again. Is Usyk capable of derailing this train? 3 fights ago I would have said "no way" but Usyk dealt pretty well with Juggernaut Derrick Chisora perhaps he'll also be able to stop the AJ Vs Fury cashout mismatch from taking place.

So you hate AJ and love fury, Yet you hate backfoot boxing and love walk fowards KO guys. Im starting to wonder if the only fights youve seen are AJ vs Ruiz II and Fury vs Wilder II.
AJ dominated ruiz, sure it was from the outside, but thats not AJs fault thats ruizs fault. You come in 6 foot tall and 280lb dont be shocked if someone decides its easier to just pick your fat arse off at range rather than step in and brawl. Fury vs 280lb ruiz would of 1000000% just danced around him flicking a jab.

Such a dominant performance, reminiscent of LL VS Rahman II, Mccall II and RJjr vs Griffin II. A performance that cleared up any confusion regarding who the better fighter was (not). I do enjoy masterful boxing, this performance was far from that.

It's not a shaky rating at all. It's rock solid and indisputable I'd say.
I have little doubt he'd beat Whyte or Parker again. I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Whyte again, I'd really have no interest in seeing a rematch with Parker at all.
As for Usyk. A while back I would've confidently picked him to beat AJ, but with the injuries piling up on him along with the size differential which was already gonna be a lot to overcome I think it's probably too much for him now. I don't think his body is up to it. He is a better boxer than Joshua, but I don't know think he'll have the power and strength to hang with him. If Joshua foolishly tries to be really cautious and outbox him he opens the door for Usyk to win, this is one time when he needs to be aggressive and take full advantage of his size and strength.
Joshua vs Wilder is still the Heavyweight fight I'd most like to see. It's better than Fury vs Joshua to me as a fight. Fury vs Joshua is obviously more prestigious, but Joshua vs Wilder would almost certainly be a better action fight. 2 vulnerable guys with big KO power. I love fights like that.

I mean I'd say it was at least as impressive as Lewis' win over McCall in the rematch. At least Ruiz didn't have a mental breakdown in there
What did Ruiz win in the rematch like 2 or 3 rounds tops? It wasn't the most exciting bout, but it was a definitive clear cut victory which is all it needed to be.
He already saw what would happen if he chased the KO against Ruiz, and he wisely chose a different strategy. That's called experience. You don't repeat mistakes if you can help it.

You need to be more subtle (far less outrageous) with your trolling in order to convince people you're being serious, compelling them to take the bait.
What you've written is far too over-the-top to be taken seriously. Your extreme approach to trolling won't elicit the response you're hoping for.
You need to tone things down a tad.

Maybe get a gf or a job or something instead of obsessing about if others are trolling or not?
Ruiz vs AJ III would be so hard to predict that calling AJ some clearcut #1 challanger is just ridiculous.

What I like about this thread is the fact that nobody has disputed that AJ is only a contender, he's not the champion. Perhaps he can be regarded as a former interrim hw champion but the a reigning and defending one, not a chance.

That's because they know you're trolling and have decided to refrain from taking the bait.
I applaud you though, I award you kudos for your effort.

ruiz needs to avenge his loss to joe parker first, that's the priority before a guy he's split against
