Towel ignored by the ref ....

Has there been an example of the ref ignoring a towel being thrown in by the corner, only to be proved right and the fighter who’s corner threw it in gone on to win the fight?

I can't recall anything like that. I have seen them force further punishment on the guy that was already losing though.

EDIT: I'm wrong. Earl ended up losing a UD.

If I'm remembering right the towel fight was the one Earl was KO'd in. I think they had a rematch later where MK won a UD.
The only times I can remember the ref refusing a towel at all are that one, the recent one and another one, was it Cotto vs Yuri Foreman or something like that? I think the guy had an obvious leg injury and Mercante Jr refused the towel for no sensible reason. Cotto won by stoppage shortly afterwards anyway.
