zab stops Cory

Yes! i fornicating knew it. Zudah is back, and the welterweight division has a more interesting champion.

I knew Zab could stop him. Shows how much pop he's got. Spinks stopped in the 8th.

Only in the name of pedantry, mate...

But wasn't it in round nine?

From the reports I've read, it looks like Cory forgot to jab, and then Zab just overwhelmed him with the big left. It's a mistake I thought he made against Antonio Diaz, but Diaz didn't have the pop or technique to stop him.

Fair play to Mister Judah. And the best thing: Maybe the Beastie Boys can come and sing "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" while he appears at MSG. No, shit, I meant: because he's perceived as vulnerable, *loads* of guys will want to fight him. It is, I feel, despite Zab's wannabe Gangsta shit, genuinely good for boxing, if only for the prospect of future fights.

And just think, Judah finally has something definitive to put on his resume. And of course, he's gonna be loaded. What if DLH can chop his leg off or something and make welter?

I had a few quid on Super Zab at 2.68 on Betfair. Pity they weren't offering KO odds as I would have backed it and would have had a greater return.

This is the weight DLH said he will probably fight at!! Still says it is his natural weight.

I think DLH will have too much for Zab, I want to see the rubber with Spinks (although, Sky I would like to see any of their first two matches also!).

Great result for Judah, I though he would win the first fight and he didn't, then (convinced Spinks could outbox him) I though he would be beaten last night and he wasn't!

Also might be beginning to show just how strong the Light-Welter division really is...

Stu - I know where you download the fight for free, only worth it if you have broadband.

Well Spinks seems to want one.
“Oh yeah, I want to fight him again. I gave him a chance. I hope he gives me a chance next time around.

“I give him credit, he caught me with a good shot. I was a little groggy but I wanted to go on.

“I am very disappointed. I let a lot of people down. But I have to keep my head up and take it like a man.”
Good result for Judah it should set him up for some big money matches over the next 12 months. I imagine Judah will want De La Hoya next as that will bring him a much bigger payday than a third fight against Spinks.

I have always thought Judah V Mayweather Jr could be interesting.

great for judah, finally he comes thru. And its great to see that he took only a $100,000 pay check to get a second chance. £50,000!!!! Thats outrageous, spinks got over a million dollars!

good luck to him, lets hope there isnt a third match, and that Judah mosely or dlh or even the winner of hatton/tyszu can be made.

Apparently judah said after the fight that he'd do whatever Don king set up, so I reckon no rematch.

Indeed, there is a plethore of fight in the 140lbs to 147lbs bracket. Judah, Spinks, Mosely, De La Hoya, Hatton, Cotto, Witter, Mayweather, Tszyu etc etc.

Lets hope we are in for a Boxing feast over the next few years.

very happy for Judah... pre Tszyu he was probably over rated, but after the Tszyu fight a lot of people were under rating him.... i remember only a week or two ago some people on here posting how Hatton would beat him cause he had no chin....couldnt punch ...... WTF ??

http://www.boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... highlight=

Spinks is a nice guy but defeat would have been eased by the huge purse he got...

Tszyu v Zab rematch would be a proper throwback fight... undisputed welter champ against undisputed light welter champ BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

Hatton would beat him..... :TU:

Bit gutted at this result, Cory is one of my favourites - nice to see a fighter unify the belt without a punch.

Sounds like it was an interesting and close fight this time around and Cory fought the wrong fight (no jab for some reason). I think Cory deserves a rematch next, and I hope he gets it.

Credit to Judah, seems to have learned from his mistakes in the ring and grown up outside of it aswell. Certainly shows Mayorga has an overated punch.

Not to sure what this does in the P4P stakes, Spinks was in most peoples' top ten before last night.

Judah's already on record that he wants to avenge what he believes are aberrations on his record.
Look for a super match return after Tszyu tunes up by feasting on Hatton & Gatti.

BTW, Zab's win sure improves Witter's stature.

The manner of this result sure dimishes Mayorga's stature also. Cory's still got a good chin, but Mayorga isn't the hardest hitter in this devision let alone in the P4P stakes.

tsyzu rematching judah would be pointless, it would be exactly the same fight but possibly take a couple of rounds longer.

I disagree. It wasn't that Judah was throwing harder punches than Mayorga, more of a case of Judah being fast enough to connect. Mayorga couldn't get near him and would have drawn that fight only for the points deductions. Juah hits hard, so does Cintron. Mayorga didn't seem to carry his power up as far as 160, but he is certainly powerful at 147, although I doubt he will be fighting at less than 154 again.

So you don't think it's possible that Judah can improve on his performance, after all, he did with Cory. He's also older and more phsically mature now.

EXcellent fight, if Tszyu wins this one, he goes down as a truly great fighter.

hahaha

If Hatton was so confident of beating Judah, why did he pussy out of the fight when Judah challenged him in Manchester???

Judah has no chin?  Why? Because he got sparked by Tszyu? Does Mitchell have no chin?

Judah has underated chin. He took lots of punches CLEAN from Spink (a welterweight) and he has taken punches before.

Zab has WAY faster hands than Hatton or anybody Hatton has faced. He has so much more power than anyone Hatton has faced either. He would KO Hatton in 2 rounds max IMO. (Most likely a one round KO).

Watch the Spinks fight.

Puts it alll in perspective now ,if Junior Witter had ,had more experience he could have beat Judah.
For all the fools who slagged off his performance,I watched the Judah Witter fight again last night even as a raw pro novice Witter gave Judah a run for his money even winning rounds.

That's a bit presumptuouos. Just because Witter went the distance and lost by a wide margin, does not mean it would have been a win had he been more experienced, the one does not follow the other.

I think Witter's style has become more and more similar to Judah's if anything though, Witter is harder to hit, but Zab is a cleaner puncher.

Would be an interesting fight.

Agreed.

But if you watch the Witter/Judah fight, for the first 3-4 rounds, I actually thought Witter was going to do it b/c he was getting the better of Judah and frustrating him. One judge had it 116-112... similar to my scorecard.

I don't think Judah wants the fight though, (He thinks he's above the Witters of the world) so I don't think we'll see it.

Witter was a mere novice with no hard edged promotional backing warren only gave him the hard Jobs.
At that point who was considered the better fighter? Hatton or Witter,I would say Hatton. So given that Witter got through the fight logically it would follow that Hatton would have beat Judah. So why dint he take the Job?He would have been world Champion by now and given the public what they had wanted!
You would have thought Warren in his infinate wisdom would have realised that although not the finished article,Witter with a good promotional team behind him was capable of performing and winning up at world level.Thats what I call a good promoter.Instead we got 4 or 5 years of Warren feeding Hatton bums.
