"Errol Spence Jr. plans to move to 154 if Terence Crawford fight isn’t made"
Errol Spence Jr. is planning to move to 154 pounds after his next fight unless fellow 147-pound titlist Terence Crawford changes his tune.
The unified welterweight titlist Spence (27-0, 21 knockouts) will next face Manny Pacquiao on an August 21 FOX Sports pay-per-view. It is expected that the Filipino will soon be elevated from WBA “champion in recess” to “super” champion. [Editor’s note: The “super” champion designation is the main WBA beltholder whom The Ring officially recognizes.]
Should he beat Pacquiao, Spence, 31, is willing to immediately face Crawford but if the latter balks on fighting him again, “The Truth” will move on.
“Once I get that belt, like I told [Premier Boxing Champions head] Al [Haymon], I want that fight with Crawford but if it doesn’t happen, then I’ll probably just move up [to 154 pounds] or something,” Spence told Barbershop Conversations. “I’m not going to waste my time trying to fight somebody who says they don’t have any interest in me anymore. He doesn’t want to fight me anymore.
“I most likely have two more fights at 147. I’m going to go across the street to [talk to Top Rank and] see what they’re talking about. If they are not talking about nothing, I’m moving up to 154. After the ‘Pacman’ fight hopefully we can make something happen [with Crawford].”
The 33-year-old Crawford (37-0, 28 KOs), who has won titles and The Ring championship at lightweight and The Ring/undisputed junior welterweight championship, has publicly dismissed the idea of fighting Spence multiple times, most recently after the Vergil Ortiz-Maurice Hooker fight in Texas.
“I ain’t fighting him,” he told The Ring. “The fight is never gonna happen. It’s over with.”
Spence implied that Crawford will never get any big fights if he remains with Top Rank.
“[Top Rank founder] Bob [Arum] treats him like any owner does an athlete,” said Spence. “Basically treat him like it’s property or something like that. I feel like he doesn’t really respect Terence. Basically any kind of money that he can get out of him, he’s going to get out of him. Bob is probably frustrated with him. If Bob says something crazy [Crawford is] going to say something crazy back.”
Thoughts?

Errol Spence Jr. is essentially saying that he’ll only have two more bouts at welterweight before making the jump to 154lbs.
After beating Manny Pacquiao, Spence Jr. would have unified the WBC, WBA & IBF titles. And he’ll probably be proclaimed The RING champion also.
It also seems extremely likely that Spence Jr. will refrain from facing his very close friends, the Charlo twins.
Therefore, has Errol Spence Jr. inadvertently given the game away? Is he hinting that he already knows what Jermell and Jermall's future plans are?
Are we likely to see Jermell Charlo vacating all four of his 154lbs titles sometime during 2022, shortly after beating fellow PBC stablemate, Brian Castano, and making the jump to middleweight?
The newly-vacated 154lbs belts will be deemed as low-hanging fruit for Errol Spence Jr.
And when Jermell Charlo makes the jump to 160lbs next year, will his brother finally deliver on his promise to start competing at super-middleweight?
One final point, if Bob Arum is resigned to losing Terence Crawford in October, will he try to cash him in, by orchestrating a big-money event against the winner of the Pacquiao-Spence Jr. bout?
If he doesn’t, then I strongly suspect that the PBC or DAZN will capitalise on a decent revenue generating opportunity, by doing their upmost to make the Crawford-Spence Jr. fight (immediately after Bud becomes a free agent).
I really can’t imagine Top Rank/ESPN allowing a money-spinning opportunity go to waste and gifting it to one of their biggest rivals?
There might be some interesting developments in the coming months, because the clock is ticking on Crawford's contract and also Spence Jr's time competing at welterweight.

Will be a shame if TC only fights once this year.
Only fought once last year, because of greed..But all the biggest stars in the sport boxed without question, some boxed twice in the last 12 months and are actively involved in negotiations.
It's a shame, because I think TC beats Spence. I like them both, but honest opinion.

It's been a crying shame since Crawford tossed the belts. The guy is absolutely peaking and going to waste. The last two years could have been legacy stuff, and ended up being frittered away. That's the crying shame of it all, and Spence is no better either since Brook.

WTF is up with the hate dude? Maybe it's time to follow another sport?
Clearly the two best welterweights are Spence and Crawford. I think Crawford has a real chance to win too. For him not taking a 60-40 split is crazy, based on their respective draws. I remember Floyd taking 1/2 of what Oscar Delahoya took. Man up Crawford! This is all pending on Spence beating Pac, which is a lock in my opinion. Arum will block it somehow I think, but hope I am wrong. Who is Crawford fighting next? a 140 pounder. Not Porter, not Thurman, not D. Garcia, not Ugas.

Look when Arum was blocking the Floyd fight. Who did he fight?

I back the decision. Honestly, at this point i think spence deserves about 70-30, which will never happen... Id love to see spence Say "60-40, Take it or leave it, you have a week to decide", send the contract and if the fights not made in a week, then just duck of to 154 and keep moving....
(Ugas is on spences vs mannys undercard. If he has a good win there id like to see spence fight him befor moving up, but if its an eh preformance then im not fussed skipping that.)

Why not Crawford do a number on Ugas, one-upping Porter (who I thought beat Porter). Set up a mega fight. I'm sure Crawford thinks it is below him to fight on an undercard though.

Spence Discusses Future Move To 154: I'll Be Stronger, Sharper And Could Throw 1,300 Punches
Errol Spence Jr.’s future as a welterweight does not appear to be a long one.
If Spence can’t secure the long-desired super fight against Terence Crawford, he’s packing his bags and moving up to 154.
“I most likely have two more fights at 147,” Spence told Barbershop Conversations.
“I’m going to go across the street [to Top Rank] to see what they're talking about [for a potential Crawford fight]. If they are not talking about nothing, I'm moving up to 154. After the Pacman fight hopefully we can make something happen [with Crawford].
“At 154, I'll definitely be stronger. I'll probably throw 1,300 punches per fight at 154. I'll be a lot sharper and stronger at 154 … Making [147] is very challenging. I have to stay focused. I'm actually getting a dietician to make sure I'm losing weight the right way and still staying strong.”
Spence said he needs to stay in the gym in order to comfortably make the welterweight limit.
Before his last fight against Danny Garcia in December, Spence weighed as much as 185 pounds while he was recovering from a scary car accident in October 2019.
“You give guys a lot of time off and a lot of money and not doing too much, I’m going to blow up. Time and money is a recipe for disaster,” said Spence.
“I need a reason to stay in the gym. The time is now to do what I need to do and accomplish.”
Spence (27-0, 21 KOS) said the state of his physique this time around is a different story as the WBC and IBF welterweight champion prepares to face legendary Filipino fighter Manny Pacquiao on Aug. 21 in a FOX Sports pay-per-view in Las Vegas.
"I'm strong as a tack right now. I’m feeling strong. I'm about 158 right now. I'm back working with [Traylon Curry, also known as Blue Ray]. He takes me to another level. As the rounds keep going, I keep getting stronger and stronger.”

Bob Arum mentioned the likes of Regis Prograis, Jose Ramirez and Jose Zepeda as potential opponents for Crawford's next outing on the 23rd October.
Terence Crawford's contract will expire at the end of October. And I'm guessing that if Crawford faces a decent opponent for his next outing, then this will suggest he'll likely extend his contract.
However, if he engages in another mismatch, then may be leaving Top Rank to align himself with the PBC or DAZN (with the former more likely than the latter).
Either way, I don't envisage a bout between Crawford and Spence Jr. before the end of October.

Yeah the internet does Boxing a disservice. Knowing when fights are made is all well, and good, but discussing promoters/contracts...all that BS. It's sh*t that fans shouldn't even concern themselves with.
And guys constantly jabbering back and forth at each other without fighting is definitely a bad look.
