Hi I'm just wondering if anybody can help me out on this. I've got mixed (PAL and NTSC) footage of a fighters career but want to author the fights in order of when they occured which means mixing the formats. My software doesn't allow me to do mix formats on a single disc so I am wondering, is there a simple way of converting PAL to NTSC and NTSC to PAL? Also if you could let me know how long this takes it would be great. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

TMPGenc is a good program for converting files to NTSC to PAL and vice versa. I find it extremely easy to use and I especially like the fact that it has a batch process, meaning you can convert a bunch of files in one batch while you're off doing something else.

How long each file takes is pretty much contingent upon your CPU's power.

I use TMPGEnc DVD Author. Do I need another TMP program to do the conversion?

And using 3.4 GHZ P4 processor with 2048 MB RAM.

Hell, you shouldn't have any problems, then. A one-hour MPEG-2 file might take a 2-3 hours. More if you encode at a high/variable bitate, less if you encode at a lower/constant bitrate.

Using TMPG Plus, I am converting a 1.9GB PAL file into NTSC and it's telling me the new file will be about 3.3GB - what's all that about? Can I not make a file the same size as the PAL one without effecting the quality?
