The interim belt

What’s people’s perceptions of the interim belt?
If it’s used for the the purpose of an injured champion just so the belt is active, are people happy with this? I see no issue tbh so long as the injured champion and interim champion fight once injured champion is fully healthy.

Yep - I was ok with it when it was used as originally designed. Very rarely and when a champion either suffers with a long term injury or a champion suffers an injury just before a big show and they can still market the fight as an interim world title.
In both cases the interim champ should fight the regular champ at the earliest point possible I.e. in the regular champ’s next fight.
It’s been heavily abused though - particularly by the WBA who just see it as a normal additional title now.

WBA need to look up the word ‘Interim’ in the dictionary.

Yes agree, if the normal belt cannot be active...e.g. due to injury or a fighter changing weights temporary, then intrrims are fine and yes....they should fight and if that cant get arranged then the interim champion should be promoted. If people class Rocky Fielding as a world champion, then I have no issue with Brian Magee having the same status.
But the WBA heavyweight title is a mess....Anthony Joshua, Trevor Bryan, Manuel Charr and DDD have all fought for it in a period of 8 months

I don’t like it… each organisation should has one champion… forget interim, gold, intercontinental, ect belts and have one champion and one mandatory challenger.
It looks good for the casual when the likes of Connor Benn are walking towards the ring with a belt, mind.
“And the new WBC interim Gold champion is…”

The interim belt is basically just being mandatory, i have no higher respect for it. The only way it differs from being mandatory is that if the Champ retires or suffers a brutal injury or vacates then you get elevated to Champ (although thats actually not better than fighting for a vacant belt... Ask Haney).

I also see no issue with an half way belt as well I.e. an intercontinental, for a boxer who’s building their career up
I’d be happy with a world champion and intercontinental champ

It could have been a sensible solution to a champion being inactive due to injury. However, as it's been abused for so long now, I wish it would disappear completely.
If a champion is injured, he vacates and when he's ready to return, he fights the new champion. Simple as that.
