Announcing the fight, Matchroom said: “On Saturday, December 18, Joseph Parker (29-2, 21 KOs) faces off against the mercurial Brit Derek Chisora (32-11, 23 KOs) in a rematch of their 12-round war in May 2021.

“Parker, the former WBO Heavyweight Champion, has tallied five straight wins since losing against Dillian Whyte for the WBO International Heavyweight Title.

“Derek ‘WAR’ Chisora is looking to bounce back after losing by split decision against Parker and by unanimous decision against Oleksandr Usyk in October 2020.

“The event will be live worldwide on DAZN (except New Zealand and Samoa).”

That’s the big difference from the first meeting. There is now no longer the Sky Sports Box Office option for the event.

DAZN and Matchroom have announced three premium fights nights to add to an ever-increasing fall fight schedule. All will be live and worldwide on DAZN.

Confirming the three events, DAZN promised a lot more fight nights after fans and media questioned a lack of announcements over the summer.

Canelo Alvarez moving on for his next fight was one of the major reasons for the delay.

Those three new events are:

• October 16: Former four-weight world ruler Mikey Garcia returns against European Super-Lightweight Champion Sandor Martin. Chukchansi Park in Fresno, CA.
• October 30: WBC Interim Heavyweight World Champion Dillian Whyte faces Swedish fighter, Otto Wallin. Live from The O2 in London and worldwide on DAZN.
• December 18: Heavyweights Joseph Parker and Derek Chisora rematch in another epic clash at the AO Arena in Manchester. Live worldwide on DAZN (except New Zealand and Samoa).

“First up on October 16, four-weight king Mikey Garcia returns to action in a difficult assignment against Barcelona’s European Super-Lightweight Champion Sandor Martin in Fresno, CA.

“‘The Body Snatcher’ Dillian Whyte returns home to The O2 on October 30. He puts his Interim WBC heavyweight world title against Otto Wallin.

“Wallin is the man that came so close to inflicting a loss on Tyson Fury.

“Then, on December 18, Joseph Parker and Derek Chisora go to war again at Manchester Arena. Catch it all live and exclusively around the world on DAZN.”

Back in May, a heavyweight crossroads fight saw former WBO world champion Joseph Parker get off the floor to win a twelve round split decision over veteran Derek Chisora.

It was a close fight that saw Parker get decked in the very first round.

Chisora was not happy with the scoring and there were observers who felt he had done enough to win.

After the fight, both boxers expressed their desire to have a rematch to set the record straight.

According to Parker's manager, David Higgins, the two sides are now discussing the possibility of a rematch for later in the year, at a venue to be determined in the UK.

"There's talk of Derek Chisora and a rematch," said Higgins to Sky Sports. "If I was Chisora, I'd be planning my retirement after that fight, if it is to happen.

"It's under negotiation now, so the fight is not confirmed. What I do know is that Chisora has vocally said he wants a rematch with Joseph Parker. Joseph is quite happy to fight Chisora again. He knows exactly what he's dealing with now.

"Chisora had that early first round punch, but Joseph is confident he can make good work of Chisora and put him away into retirement. He's got no problems taking the fight.

"The discussions have looked at later in the year, October, November. I think the UK would be sensible, obviously because they are both household names in the big UK market."

Parker is currently in camp with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. Parker is trained by Andy Lee, who is part of Fury's training team. Fury is scheduled to fight on July 24, in a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

TBH, I don't want to see them fight again.

Parker won the fight, needs to move and not worry about giving Chisora a rematch.

I would rather parker fight someone fresh, or if he was going to rematch id rather Dillian, AJ, Ruiz in that order. But i rate chisora, think he is genuin top 15 and the last fight was very very even, so its a good fight, will make him good money and is way better than fighting trash.

Parker is a young top heavyweight, If he wins this there are a ton of good fights out there for him. Joyce WBO eliminator would be fun... surely he is a chance at getting that, otherwise i think he would of taken the hrgovic elliminator.

I had Whyte>Parker&Chisora and Parker>Chisora. All fairly close but I thought the Whyte/Parker fight was closest though. I don't actually think any of the final decisions of the fights between Chisora/Parker/Whyte have been controversial on my cards. The actual scorecards are a different story though.

Bored now - to be honest - whilst I thought it was razor tight or perhaps even a Chisora win - I think there will only be one winner in the rematch. Chisora was fatiguing and sort of shot his bolt - Next time I think Parker will not have such a disasterous start and will figure him out a lot quicker and while will lose some rounds will win clean.

Don't want to see it.

Was okay first time around and was a close but clear win for Parker. I can only imagine it would be clearer for Parker next time.

I get what you're saying. Surely there are better options than Chisora. I think Ortiz might be gonna fight Andy Ruiz, Murat Gassiev could be interesting I suppose.

Parker vs Joe Joyce would be a great matchup.

I’d rather see Parker/Dubois a hell of a lot more than Parker/Chisora.

Parker’s not really showing any interest in chasing the elite guys, which is disappointing for a former world champion who is still young for a heavyweight.

Can’t blame him though when run of the mill fights like this earn PPV money - if you get overpaid for middling fights why stretch yourself against more dangerous opponents?

Chisora is effectively a PPV fighter now - which suggests a large enough portion of the current boxing audience are more willing to have their pants pulled down in public than has ever been the case in the past!

reality is that so many of us complain its on ppv, but then when time comes will pull a 'well ive got nothing better to do with my evening' , 'still cheaper than a night out' 'have been worse cards i guess' , etc

Not the most scintillating rematch. But credit to Chisora for taking on more contenders than, say, the celebrated Frank Bruno. And good that talented fighters are still coming to the U.K.

Del Boy has been in some really good ones so you never know.

Parker is a bit of a modern day Bugner. Has the ability but can be reluctant. Spoiled their first fight somewhat by holding.
