Riddick Bowe is back!! We’re told the 53-year-old former 2x heavyweight champion has inked a deal with Celebrity Boxing to fight October 23 in Miami.
Bowe — who last fought to a unanimous decision victory in December 2008 — does not yet have an opponent.
Back in his day, Riddick was one of the BADDEST dudes in the world. His pro record stands at 43-1 (33 KO’s) … with 1 of those big wins coming at the expense of the legendary Evander Holyfield.
Bowe is just the latest 50-something former champ to re-lace up the gloves.
Late last year, Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. fought an exhibition match that ended in a draw.
Speaking of 55-year-old Iron Mike … we’re told Bowe actually has interest in fighting Tyson.
It’s a fight boxing fans badly wanted back in the day, but the stars never aligned for Mike and Riddick.
We’re told fight promoters are currently tracking down an opponent … and an announcement will be made sometime over the next few weeks.
Here's a video of the 43 year old Riddick Bowe competing in MMA, which should help gauge the level of success he's likely to achieve with his comeback:
Thoughts?

Excellent move, I’m sure he’ll turn back the clock and rediscover the form of Holyfield I, with all the ramrod jabbing of 1992 combined with an inside game befitting of a much smaller man to show these modern heavyweights how it’s done, I fully expect him to cut a swathe of destruction right through to the top and knock out allcomers on his way to uppercutting Tyson Fury into oblivion and putting the Golota wrongs overhand right by toppling AJ and reclaiming the undisputed spoils
Disclaimer: may not be my actual Thoughts

To be honest with you any State that would allow him to fight should be banned from putting on Professional Combat sports for a long time to come. He's shown clear signs of Brain damage already, and licensing him at 53 even against weak opposition isn't just a bad idea it borders on criminal negligence. It's just flat out irresponsible.

Riddick Bowe is clearly out-of-shape and suffering from a severe form of Dementia Pugilistica:
It's really tough seeing a great fighter in such a terrible state.

i'm not interested in the slightest.
and 100 percent no commission on earth should issue ol' big daddy any license for a 'real boxing match'.
but if it's an exhibition like tyson-jones where it was clearly agreed upon to not attack the head, then let the man make a few bucks.
he can take a couple of pulled punches to the midsection no problem.

This. The way he talks (and some other ex-pros) it’s really sobering.

Awful to read and going to be even worse to watch, hopefully it doesn't go ahead.

After watching that interview with Holyfield and Bowe jesus. The man is a vegetable. I'd feel guilty for even stepping into the ring with him.
The man needs some attention and I can like feel that, can't they just invite him to step into the ring there at that card in Miami to say Hi to the fans, walk a circle etc. It's criminal to have this man fight.

Apparently Bowe’s other win against the legendary Evander Holyfield wasn’t considered a ‘big’ one then

Interesting statistic that Bowe has zero unavenged professional losses. I took a look at the Golota fights a few years ago. First fight was just a fluke, Golota messed up. Second fight was a 100% legitimate win for Bowe, it had been a back and forth fight and Golota was scared and looking for a way out after all those brutal rounds. With such a hightened fight or flight need what Golota did that night ammounts to taking a knee and letting the judge count you out.

Bowe himself has announced his upcoming ring return. Via Instagram, the former heavyweight king said the following:
“Hi, I’m Riddick Bowe, two-time world heavyweight champion, and I just signed a contract with Celebrity Boxing. Listen y’all; I’m ready to go. Who you think I should fight? Maybe Mike Tyson? Evander Holyfield? Shaq daddy? Or maybe Joe. Joe mama? Let me know who you want me to fight, and it’s a done deal.”
Well, I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to see Bowe fight ANYONE, ever again, even in an exhibition bout that can be dressed up as “a chance to see a legend move around and have fun, with some of the proceeds going to charity.”

the guy was one of my favourite fighters but a resurrected & heavily sedated mummy would bring more action to the ring than bowe at this stage.
so if it's a pure exhibition let him earn a few bucks.
i don't know who'd be interested, i'm not.
i watch and remember the man in his glorious prime whenever i like on you tube.
a real fight should be completely out of the question for riddick.

I'd like to see him take on some focus mitts held by you for 4 rounds.

Bowe has been brain damaged, slurred speech etc for decades.
Who would sanction him to fight ? One of these 50yo broke pugs
is going to get killed. And boy that won't help boxing at all.
Bowe's success in his prime had a lot to do with ducking Lewis.

Bowe must have had years of very hard sparring to be so badly affected

It’s a very thin career if you take away Holyfield. Gonzalez was very over-hyped and probably wouldn’t even beat a Charles Martin. He made a meal out of beating Herbie Hide. Granted he did manage to turn Larry Donald into a journeyman, but he was a non-puncher to begin with. It definitely hurt Bowe he never got to face Tyson, which was a winnable fight for him. He would likely have had some chance against a pre-Stewart Lewis as well.

Anyone involved in enabling this “event” needs a long, hard look at themselves, and anyone who pays to watch it is plain morbid.

Oh for f+cks sake. The guy can't put a coherent sentence together. The last thing he needs is additional brain-damage
