Lee McGregor will take on Vincent Legrand, and Tyrone McKenna will go up against Zhankosh Turarov, as part of the Feile an Phobail boxing event on Friday 6 August.

The card is promoted by Top Rank and takes place at Falls Park in Belfast, and is headlined by an all-Irish showdown between Michael Conlan and TJ Doheny.

Edinburgh sensation McGregor (10-0, 8 KOs) makes his highly-anticipated return to the ring, defending his European bantamweight title against undefeated mandatory challenger Legrand (32-0, 17 KOs).

McGregor won the belt in March with an incredible first round knockout win over Karim Guerfi, and now faces another tough Frenchman, when he faces former European flyweight champion Legrand.

The card also sees the rescheduled clash between McKenna (21-2-1, 6 KOs) and Turarov (24-0, 17 KOs), after they were originally due to face each over in Dubai in April.

That fight couldn’t take place after Turarov tested positive for COVID-19, but the pair are now finally ready to square off, with the winner moving a step closer towards world title contention.

Lee McGregor feels Vincent Legrand will be in for a rude awakening when he defends his European bantamweight title at Falls Park next week.

McGregor (10-0, 8 KOs) puts his title on the line against Legrand (32-0, 17 KOs) on the Conlan Boxing and Top Rank event in Belfast on Friday 6 August.

It’s already been a year to remember for the undefeated Edinburgh star, knockout out Karim Guerfi in the first round back in March, to add the European title to his British and Commonwealth crowns in just his 10th professional fight.

Legrand will pose a serious threat to the Scotsman, bringing to the table a 32-0 unbeaten record, whilst also holding the European title at flyweight.

McGregor knows he could be in for a difficult evening, but feels the Frenchman will be surprised when he sees what is standing opposite him on fight night.

McGregor said: “I think Legrand will be shocked at the size of me on fight night, and I think my strength will play a big part in it. I will boss it and be the aggressor and dictate what is going on.

“He’ll definitely feel the size difference from fighting at flyweight and now coming up to bantamweight. He’s a tricky southpaw though, and you don’t get a record of 32-0 with 17 knockouts without being a good fighter.

“I’m prepared for a hard 12 rounds, but I’m very confident of getting the win and I’m looking forward to once again showing how good I really am.

“It’s an amazing opportunity for myself to be on this show. We’ve been starved of big crowds for so long, and this will be one of the first big open shows since the pandemic. So it makes it even more special, so I’m excited to put on a good performance for the Belfast crowd.”

Wasn't the best performance from Lee.

He had a good advantage as well.

We like seeing boxers being dropped, I guess that’s what made it a decent fight.

He dominated Guerfi, and looked poor here, probably a one off performance. Got the job done.

Legrand is a neat and tidy boxer, not strong and clearly small at the weight but he gave McGregor problems and not just the knockdown, don't know if was the southpaw style but McGregor too easy to hit, dropped by a jolting jab in the 2nd and was taking shots while trying to get close, can't fault the finish though ,lovely right to the body
