I’ve been ignoring world titles for years now. Good decision from Boxing News.

That's cool.
I doubt it will change anything with the orgs, greed is their driver and the sport be f*cked.

About time. In these times, the media has a lot of power to start trends and influence the public, and this is a good step forward, I hope others follow in the same footsteps.

A big thumbs up from me. Although I doubt it’ll make much of a difference, it’s an admirable stance from Boxing News. The sanctioning bodies are a scourge to the sport.

Well done to them, great step. Time the fans and those who love this sport start trying to reclaim it and throw their weight around.
No sport mugs it's fans off as much as boxing, it's about time people start challenging the sanctioning orgs, promoters broadcasters and managers the rubbish they are offering up.
Yes we are outnumbered by casuals that will pay for any old shite but we can still make some noise and be more selective where we spend our money.
Too much nonsense about 0's in boxing. UFC have Ls all over the place but they fight the best so people don't care.

19-0 @archiesharp95 takes on Diego Andrade for the @WorldBoxingOrg Global Super Featherweight Title on Saturday night live on @btsport
WBO Global. Embarrassing.

Daft question here but is wbo global better than a wbo world title or not as for me global means world.

It’s a good move but it won’t change anything. Most readers of Boxing News will know which titles are on the line and will be watching the big fights.
We need promoters and TV networks to help out. Focus on proper titles like area, British, Commonwealth, European and then proper world titles.
Networks should refuse to show fights involving BS titles and promoters should refuse to put them on.
FW’s always loved a dodgy title. He loved the WBO when it came on the scene, heavily went down the WBU route and now looks for any dodgy belt he can get. Why Archie Sharp isn’t going for proper domestic belts is beyond me.
Boxing News new championship policy. No longer recognising official belt holders as W.Champs

If we finally get somewhere and start to rid the sport of all these ridiculous championship belts based on what Boxing News are doing, surely we'd have to remove the Marquess of Queensbury from the British Title and replacing him with Matt Christie?

A great move.
F*ck sanctioning bodies / versions of a title.
There can be only one champion.

The Ring tried something similar in 1987 under the editorship of Nigel Collins, he also had the magazine recognise only the eight traditional weight divisions - it didn't work!

Great call by BN, they are doing the right thing.
It's a shame it is unlikely to change anything.

As much as we dislike the alphabet boys, Boxing News is a "paper of record" and should still report which title or titles are at stake in any given contest. It is a source of reference as well as being a trade news magazine.
