In fairness, they have been massively entertaining (Chisora especially...) and they deserve whatever money they have made.

It’s hard to say if Mason was better than a Chisora or a Whyte as he didn’t really take a lot of hard fights. The eye injury was unfortunate. In an ideal world he’d have got to fight everyone in the early 90’s and shown his true level, (while perhaps getting rich?) Although I’m not sure Mason quite had the fight anyone mentality of Chisora, but I suppose we’ll never know.

Chisora won’t fight anyone, unless the money is extortionate.

I’d fight King Kong for that sort of dosh. Gary would ‘un all.

He was also very carefully matched - was he better than Chisora or Whyte, I think he was around that level which is a decent level.

Is it fair that Mauricio Amaral lives today in a Brazilian favela whereas Chris Eubank drives around in a big truck on the back of his coffee ad money? Is it fair, mate? is it fair?

I remember him losing every round (I am sure you will remember it as well...) against a shot Tyrell Biggs before Biggs started clowning around and Mason socked him on the jaw in the 7th! His big fights, I seem to remember him labouring and grinding out those wins. I remember him having a jewellery shop so he must have had some cash when he finished...

The idea is to actually win the world title before you make money. And take the title from the champion by stoppage.

There was a lot made of Amaral getting only £20,000 upto Eubank’s £1,250,000 (Mickey Duff and Colin Hart were bitching in the papers).

But do you not think Eubank made a dime until after he already beat Benn (through hell and back)?

The structure of boxing has gone to pot.

I agree that they were world class, but Povetkin is retired and Ortiz is 42 and not really active.

Usyk is world class I agree but too small for the big guys at Heavyweight I believe.
