I had read the article, but did not comment about it until now. It was surprising. It would be nice if articles like this showed a Fight Fax record of a boxer so that we could see the discrepancies between that and the BoxRec record. I used to buy records from Fight Fax for $10 each.

I was thinking about how these discrepancies would affect the WBAN ratings since they used BoxRec's top ten in each division. WBAN made a statement about this that was not in the article. It stated that because of BoxRec not documenting fights properly, they will no longer use BoxRec's ratings. Instead, they will rely on their extensive knowledge of boxing and the boxers to determine whether a fight qualifies for a WBAN belt. http://www.womenboxing.com/rankingsarch ... nindex.htm

WBAN belts seem to function like Ring Magazine's belts and is awarded to the winner of a No. 1 vs. No. 2 or 3 matchup in a division. WBAN rated the top 3 in each division in March 2021, but they were using BoxRec's ratings. I'm not totally sure about that because they rated Elina Tissen No. 3 at featherweight and Tissen had been inactive for three years until her fight in May 2021. BoxRec does not rate boxers who have been inactive for more than one year. Tissen is currently rated No. 10 by BoxRec after her fight in May. Anyway, WBAN will now apparently use their discretion to rate the top 3 female boxers in a division.
