Bob Arum isn't "planning" anything.

Crawford's contract with Top Rank expires at the end of October this year, which makes a mockery of Bob Arum's alleged "plans" for him to engage in a summer 2022 showdown with Taylor.

Therefore, it's not "an easy fight to get done", because it probably won't happen if Crawford leaves Top Rank.

Ehh. In reality is there a bigger fight for Crawford if he leaves TR but can’t get the Spence fight? The only bigger names out there for him are Tank (not happening), Ryan Garcia (not happening), and Loma (TR). Garcia, Tank, and Loma too small right now anyway. A fight at 154 with Charlo could yield some money but that’s a harder fight than Taylor and probably yields less.

This is likely Crawford’s last chance at a good payday, and I think he’ll take it if Bob can get it done.

But you’re right. It’s not as easy as I believed. Where would be if Uncle Bob wasn’t a dreamer though?

None of the big UK broadcasters were remotely interested in covering Josh Taylor’s history-making title unification victory over Jose Ramirez.

Even BT Sports, who is aligned with ESPN, refused to cover the bout.

For sure, from a sporting perspective, us hardcore boxing aficionados will be highly-excited about the prospect of seeing Terence Crawford fight Josh Taylor, but the mainstream casuals won’t be bothered.

Crawford (based on his recent Nielsen figures) is no longer a big name in the US. And Josh Taylor definitely isn’t a big name in the UK.

So from purely a commercial perspective, any Crawford-Taylor bout won’t be as “big” as you believe it to be. It'll fill a stadium in Scotland though, because the Scots love their boxing, it's just that the TV revenue won't be that good.

Put it this way, I guarantee you that far more people in the UK will be familiar with the likes of Dave Allen and Dereck Chisora than Josh Taylor.

And that's a sorry state of affairs, considering the Scot is current one of boxing's very best pound-for-pound talents.

You’re right, it’s probably the biggest event of their entire careers. It’s just that both men aren’t big commercially (in comparison to their peers).

A good question would be why would they be doing that now.
In light of the fact he's an unbeaten 18-0 WBC, WBA and IBF undisputed world champion and having just fought in a very entertaining bout with Ramirez just recently seems absolute madness.
I can't think of why they would do this to him, his last six opponents have a combined record of 136-1.
Something very strange going on here by the looks of it.

Might be getting a little too deep here but apparently BT Sport was covering some major rugby on May 22. Doubt that it was at the exact same time but that’s at least a plausible theory?

Crawford vs Spence is the fight to make early 2022, not Taylor. Crawford needs to accept 60-40 or it won't happen.
