Benavidez: “This year, it would be Charlo [that I would want]. That’s a fight I want" BUT would Charlo want it?

“This year, it would be Charlo [that I would want]. That’s a fight I want. Because Canelo, I know he’s got his own thing [with unifying the super middleweight division]. I believe in myself; I bet on myself; I double down on myself. I’d get Charlo, beat him, and then afterward, the fight between me and Canelo would be that much bigger," Benavidez told Little Giant Boxing.
“I thought he was going to stop Juan Montiel, but that shows there are flaws in his game too. He’s talking about everybody else has flaws, but he has flaws of his own. He got a bad cut on his eye. He’s got his own eyes to worry about too," Benavidez said.

“I feel like I would [knock Charlo out]. It would be a great fight. I’m not saying it would be easy, but I know I can stop Charlo. Everybody else, I go for the knockout I for the kill against everybody. As the years go by, I’m getting stronger, and I’m excited for what comes in the future." @ BS

Benavidez is right but probably Charlo would fight even more easy guys to stay safe knowing that Montiel gave him hard fists!

If Benavidez will beat Uzcategui, I'd like to see Benavidez fighting Jacobs or Lemieux. Another interesting fight would be Benavidez vs Andrade if Andrade will move up @ 168 lbs! :box:

David Benavidez has twice carelessly disposed of his WBC title, because he lacks discipline and struggles with his weight.

He’s also an inactive fighter that delivered a very unimpressive performance during his most recent outing against Ronald Ellis.

In my mind, he has to not only make weight, but also look spectacular against Jose Uzcategui in August, to revive my faith in him, because, at this moment in time, he’s a long-term member of the “who needs you?” club.

There’s no reason for any of the big names to consider fighting David Benavidez, because he doesn’t bring anything to the table – no money, no title, no prestige etc.

My words might sound harsh, but I’m merely describing the reality of the situation, because it’s abundantly clear that Benavidez needs to rebuild his reputation in order to EARN the right to engage in a marquee fight.

User Datsue described very well this type of attention seeker-troll like EO :

" Intelligent or not, he's a complete disingenuous arsehole who cloaks his own opinions in a veneer of bullshit while pretending that he's in fact impartial.
Yet watch him when it's someone he doesn't have a gaping wide-on for in the dock...!
It's like listening to one of those right-wing media types who thinks that saying the word "fact" can simply make inconvenient things that they don't like go away, & that if they keep thrashing things out in a long-winded convoluted fashion you'll lose sight of consensus reality & accept their Byzantine version of events that—despite their constant appeals to some sort of "objectivity"—is only supported by their opinions & their bullshit rhetoric. "

Almost everytime when EO is posting he's leaving a 'maneuvering space' to have a leverage in a possible arque with other posters. He just craves for attention and validation on this forum. lol

With welcome!

At least you gave Datsue credit this time, because you normally plagiarise his words from 2018 and then pretend they're your own. :TU:

I hope he can earn a marquee fight like szmerta, steve rolls, fielding, yildrim, and montiel did.

To be fair, in terms of the risk versus reward ratio, facing Benavidez doesn't provide that much more of a financial reward than those guys, but the risk is significantly greater.

Fighters nowadays like to engage in stay-busy mismatch type bouts, whilst patiently waiting for a sizable payday against a big-name opponent, which means that Benavidez is currently residing in "No man's land", since he's clearly too good to be considered an easily beatable journeyman, but he doesn't offer that much in terms of a payday.

And let's be honest, he's responsible for his own predicament.

I hope Andrade moves up. Doubt if Benavidez can make 160 without serious draining.

Since signing with Matchroom, Demetrius Andrade has fought Walter Kautondokwa, Artur Akavov, Maciej Sulecki, Luke Keeler and Liam Williams. Those names are all the opponents he's fought over the last four years.

Boo Boo isn't going to engage in a non-title fight at 168lbs against David Benavidez.

Benavidez says he'd try to come down to 160 for Charlo but I think it'd be a reckless-rushed move. He should stay at 168 lbs, be active and dedicated. Eventually Charlo would have to move up b/c he's a big dude too. :TU:

“That’s a dream setup for me. They’re talking about 160; I’ll probably try and go down to 160. I want my people to believe in me. I’m here to stay. I’ll fight whoever and whenever,” said David Benavidez to Little Giant Boxing.
