Hi, i have created a website about former world middleweight champion Randolph Turpin. I created the website after finding almost no information when searching about him on the internet. There may be a few inaccuracies in the website, so if you find any please inform me of them.

It's not the most professional site in the world put i have tried my best.

nice one, good work, tragic end to his life though hey.

he used to train in North Wales, in between my home and place of work in a huge mansion castle type thing.... there is alos a pub on top of the great orme in llandudno which i believe he owned at one point but is now, although i have not been there, apparently a kind of tribute to him.

have not looked at the turpin site yet,but as a massive fan defo will,any new interest in this true legend has to be good,pity there isnt a new more modern biog on the man,could include his brothers as well as they were all highly rated boxers.the only book i know of at the moment is jack birtleys book which is a bit old fashioned and doesnt go in to enough detail it was wrote in 1975

just had a quick look at your site looks friggin A1,will take a good look tomorrow,saw on your site that there is a 1996 biog about randy do you know were to get hold of a copy in hardback.off to bed now been boxing training 2nite am too knackered to sit on internet all night

There are three books on Turpin that I'm aware of. Birtley, McInness and the James Morton book published about 12 months ago. I haven't read my copy yet but it's called "Fighters: The sad lives of Freddie Mills and Randy Turpin".

Good site, for a very good fighter.

A family friend of ours (who is much older than myself) went to see one of Turpins last fights, in Wales against Redvers Sangoe. He seems to recall that it was a pretty even fight untill Turpin landed a crippling bodyshot.

My friend went with his two cousins who were just about to turn proffesional. Their trainer took them to watch Turpin so they could "See what a real fighter looked like".

One of the Boxing cousins Tony Smith made his debut on the undercard of Turpins next fight.

Sadly like Turpin, Tony passed away many years ago.

Both the Boxing cousins and my friend used to have regular sparring sessions with Wolverhamptons Ron Gray, who later became a sucsessfull promoter and whenever I saw him a big cigar smoker as well.

Ron Gray I am told was one rough tough fighter in his day.
