I was watching a re-run of boxing academy on bravo last night, that young cocky chap "barney" (remember him) I noticed last night his surname was docherty and 'occupation' came up as traveller... is he a member of the Tony Docherty clan?

I think I brought this up on the first run, I don't think no-one has found out for certain, but really he has got to be. By the striking resemblence between the two I would say they are closely related.
Speaking of Tony, its nice that he is being interviewed now on Sky but when you here him interviewed you then get the impression that he is distinctly more Irish than Welsh. I remember one poster here saying he was born and breed in Wales, but when he was boxing amateur the TV people would say that he has only been in Wales a few years.

Yes.. i think you could be right, a lad from our gym won the am finals last year, lost to doherty the year before, but three years ago I dont think he was there, im pretty sure it was that coloured lad who got assaulted in a racist attack and im sure ended up back in court but on a drugs charge that won the weltereight ams 3 years ago... i could be very wrong though.... my minds gone blank as to his name aswel, it was an unusual name... <stu... I don't know the fella.... sorry,
I think (perhaps someone might correct me) the first time Tony won the WABA's was in 2002. It was just prior to the Commonwealth's when I first saw him anyway.

Well, Toney was in the 2002 Commonwealth games so I assume he must have won it..... As a win in the WABA'S meant qualification.
I can't remember for certain, but I'm sure I saw Tony in action before the C'Wealth's so it surely must be in that.
What did Toney do in the Home nations tornament in 2002 or 2003 - Did he ever enter them? Surely he must have won it.
