He used to be decent fighter, but now he has no speed, no footwork and no reflexes in this fight. Telegraphed punches. Physically he is in shape but man, your boxing skill did not fade just like that. I believe Dmitri suffered some brain damage in his recent losses

looks totally shot for sure............he had an unhealthy style, easy to hit but a good chin, meaning he ended up taking lots of shots over several rounds

i remember his fight with eubank, the last round eubank was basically teeing off on him non stop with clean shot after clean shot .at one point eubank shrugs his shoulders like ' what the hell do i have to do to put this guy down'

The way I see it, it's a dangerous sport. Every boxer knows the risks going in. Stop posting crap that hurts the sport. Brain damage Can happen in several combat sports. Exploit something you don't like or stfu.

A person can be accused of suffering from brain damage if they overrated Chudinov.

There’s nothing particularly shocking about seeing a fighter, without a notable victory on their resume, suffering defeats.

Not sure most boxers actually understand the risks either. I think for most fighters they understand being punchdrunk or not punchdrunk but they don't actually understand the damage risks much further than that IMO.

Loss of motor function is a common symptom of brain injuries, so it is probably more than likely that a loss in skills is caused by that.

as if this one thread is going to have some tangible 'hurt' on the sport anyway, is joe biden going to see it and ban boxing as a result or something

Boxing, as well as all combat type sports needs more people advocating the sport, instead of denigrating them due to the possible dangers.

Seriously though, it's high time all boxers over 30 were given high level scans on a regular basis.

It should be mandatory.

FMRI scans are quite advanced nowadays and a whole load of later life suffering could be avoided.

If there are concerns about radiation, then surely there are plenty of alternative tests for cognition.

Life does not have to end at 30 or even 40.

When this conversation arises, my first thought goes to George Chuvalo. Considering his style and the wars he was in, how the hell is he seemingly 100% good? Makes me wonder if genetics are involved. Are some more prone to it than others.

genetics defo gotta be a factor, as it is in most things. some guys defo have a lower threshold for taking shots before they start to show the damage. as you say, chuvalo took absolutely loads of shots, yet was clear and intelligent well into his senior years

plus there's prob lots of it behind the scenes we dont see + other than speech
