Did Joe Louis Drawn the color line in his 25 defenses? By only fighting Walcott and Henry Lewis ? Or there was not any black fighter to fight for the title?

Because his managers and backers wanted him to get a shot at the (then)White Heavyweight Champion whomever it may have been
when he was ready for a title shot. Be my guess anyway.

I'm sure similarly to Jack Johnson there was usually more money in fighting White challengers.

at least in joe's case, unlike jack's, most of the black guys he didnt fight werent relly that good and often lost to the white guys he did face

Neither Johnson or Louis "often lost" to white fighters. There were some good black heavyweights that Louis could have fought, though he probably would have beaten them anyway.

To be honest not that many great black heavyweights come to mind during the Joe Louis era. Elmer Ray is about the only one that does come to mind but he was so inconsistent.

Sort of like how Bob Satterfield, Bob Baker, Nino Valdes, and others knocked themselves out of contention to get a shot at Rocky Marciano--- too hot and cold.
