Kid Galahad Inks Multi-Fight Pact With Eddie Hearn

Newly crowned IBF Featherweight World Champion Kid Galahad has signed a multi-fight promotional deal with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing.

The Sheffield star (28-1, 17 KOs) turned in a superb performance on Saturday as he clinically stopped Liverpool’s Jazza Dickens in eleven rounds to claim the vacant IBF crown at the top of the bill on Fight Camp Week 2.

Trained by Dominic Ingle out of the famous Ingle Gym, Britain’s latest World Champion is targeting supremacy at 126lbs, and has already called for unification fights with the likes of WBC ruler Gary Russell Jr. and WBO Champion Emanuel Navarrete.

Galahad has dedicated his whole life to the sport of boxing and is regarded as one of the hardest workers in the game, and the 31-year-old former British and European Champion has an ultimate goal of becoming the Undisputed Featherweight king.

"DAZN and Eddie have a new star on their hands," said Galahad. "I told you all before this bout, 'I AM FIGHT CAMP', and I believe my performance on Saturday night showed that. Now I look forward to showcasing my skills back in the arenas in front of the crowds.

"Boxing is at its best with the boxing fans in attendance - and Featherweight boxing is at its best when Kid Galahad is in the ring, under them bright lights, shining and closing the show in style. From the ring walk to the ring craft - I’m the best in the division and I’m ready to put on a proper show with Matchroom and DAZN."

“We’ve been working closely with Kid for some years now but it’s great to make it official and sign a multi-fight deal at this exciting stage of his career,” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn. “His performance on Saturday was faultless and stands him as one of the seven British World Champions in boxing right now. I’m looking forward to the future and seeing him in some big unification fights.”

I could have swore he signed with either PBC or Top rank not long ago.

He didn't sign a deal. He chose to win the title in order to get a better deal and the PBC interest probably got him extra leverage.
PBC bid for the Warrington fight and Warrington quit his belt. The joke is on someone but it's definitely not on Barry.

Yeah - I’m only teasing.

Barry showed in his last couple of fights that he’s a deserving world champ and I think the PBC talk actually helped him.

I know styles make fights but I wish he’d thrown a similar volume of shots like he did on Saturday against Josh as it would have been a barnstormer.

Fingers crossed he’ll be able to get some unifications going.

Ingle spoke about him recently on Boxing King Media and said Barry no longer needs to fight as he has made money and has a lot of property, but would consider fighting if the right fight came up, or words to that effect iirc.

Yup. He’s not going to fight for low money as he doesn’t need to. It would need to be a meaningful fight for him to return with decent money too.

He’s doing some full time personal training for some wealthy individuals.

He sure was, I scored it for Warrington for what it's worth. I did chuckle at Warrington and his father complaining that Galahad fought dirty, it felt a bit like Vinnie Jones saying a player fouled him a lot.

I think Ingle helps his fighters invest their money when they stay with him. It's good to see.

I know lots think that but I watched quite a few of his fights live and always respected the intelligence of his style myself. Just my opinion of course but the nuances of his boxing always held me.

He wasnt above a few dirty tricks Galahad. Remember the jazza dickens first fight, thought jazza was doing well and looking the better fighter but, being much taller, galahad just kept holding him down after the clinches, bit like Fury v cunningham.

But agree, the warringtons complaining about dirty tactics, akin to jarrell miller complaining about PED use!

Won a world title, had a home defence, was boxing well, winning all rounds, then BOOM!

Off he goes.

Didn’t even stay around for interviews and we never saw him since.
