They shouldn't just bend the algorithm to confirm preconceived biases.

One of the great things about BoxRec is it exposes a lot of narratives journalists and fans have about boxing history as inaccurate.

I wonder what Usyk would rank p4p when he was still at cruiserweight. Seems like he would be near the top.

Did he actually drop p4p spots by moving up to HW and beating Joshua twice?

There was definitely some severe anti-heavyweight update recently. I remember recently there was something like 4 heavyweights in the top 7 p4p and another was like 11 or 17 or something. Now those fighters have dropped to #9, #28, #42, #91, and #154.

Thanks for the hint - that was a bug in the implementation of winner above loser rule. The corrected release is in the pipeline ... :TU:

It wasn't an anti-heavyweight update.

Boxers in higher weight division were seeded higher than boxers in lower weight divisions before. Now boxers in all weight division are seeded equal.

So in fact a preference for higher weight divisions was eliminated.

If Usyk would be set to Cruiserweight, he would rank at #11 p4p.

Basic algorithm unchanged. A ratings cap is introduced.

The rating of a boxer may not be higher than twice the rating of his best defeated opponent within the last 3 years.

This limits the rating of a boxer, who only defeats relatively inferior opponents.

George Kambosos Jr is ranked directly above Devin Haney. Kambosos's last 2 results were 2 losses to Haney. Haney's last 2 results are 2 losses to Kambosos. There's no way that this isn't a bug.

Comprank, would you mind breaking down the mathematics on how Kambosos is ranked higher than Lomachenko?

I've read the arguments for not posting the actual numbers for the ratings, but I think they should still be shown. The most helpful instance would be bringing back the ratings "before and after" in the matchup section. I follow the sport pretty closely, but sometimes I'd like to have a little bit better idea about how highly placed a "N/R" fighter is in a 4* matchup, as there is a pretty huge gap between the higher placed fighters and the lower placed fighters in those matchups.

If anything, maybe let us see what a N/R fighter's last ranking was before he/she was designated as "inactive."

The Lopez fight makes the difference as he was the highest rated opponent for both.

By the way, I don't think, your speech is near to acceptable, or?

Bridgerweights are ranked now at HW?

When did this change? Before, I think Babic and the others weren't listed among the HW, now I see Babic and Lukasz Rozanski are in the top 50

Zhang ahead of Hgrovic

I thought for 12 months, you couldn't be ahead of a fighter you lost to. Hrgovic beat Zhang in August 2022
