I was interested weather the had eather been manslaughter charges brought against fighters or promoters for death in the ring.

that guy in the US got done for GBH and sent to clink for chinning the guy after the descision when the gloves came off, he only had wraps off and whacked him clean accross the jaw.

Yeh I saw that on KOTV according to people on this sight that bloke is now on trial for killing someone with a Hammer bit of a nasty bastard it is safe to say. I was thinking more prosicutions for acts in the line of duty as it were though.

butler v Grant is the fight. You cannot be prosecuted for doing someone during the round, unless you start using a bat or something.

Tony Wilson v Steve McCarthy, Wilson knocked down in the 3rd. While McCarthy was hammering Wilson against the ropes, Wilson's mother jumped into the ring and incredibly began hitting McCarthy on the head with her stiletto shoe. While security ushered Mrs. Wilson away, McCarthy left the ring with blood seeping from a head wound. After order was restored, Referee then ordered the fight to continue. McCarthy, however, refused to return to the ring. Referee then awarded Wilson the TKO victory, declaring that McCarthy had retired. The furious crowd kicked and punched Wilson before he was able to make his way back to his dressing room.

And also Jess Willard -

In 1913, Willard dropped a young fighter named John "Bull" Young with an uppercut in the 11th round. The terrible blow drove the base of Young's jaw up into his brain and he died the following day. Willard was arrested and charged with manslaughter. The charges were dropped, but Young's death would haunt the gentle natured Willard the remainder of his long life.
