I lean more towards Bowe. Lewis was raw yet, his game wasn't polished enough. It would have been action-packed and competetive. Bowe would outfight Lewis with his inside onslaught and the superior durability.

If they met after Lewis reached his prime under Steward, Lewis would win.

Interesting and great point. Bowe would beat the pre-Manny Steward trained Lewis by decision in an exciting fight, but the prime Lewis trained by Steward would beat Bowe by getting the better of him in the exchange of jabs and right hands to either win by decision or late round knockout win.

At the time, I would have bet on Bowe and I would have lost my money.

If it is the same motivated Riddick Bowe of the first war with the great Evander Holyfield, then defitnitely Bowe wins. I can't see how would any version of the great Lennox Lewis beats that version of Bowe.

Anything less than that, Lewis by knockout.

The best version of Lewis would outbox Bowe behind the jab and counters, tie him up inside, outmaneuver him, avoid Bowe's biggest shots and time own ones more frequently.

Bowe got started faster and also hit his stride as a pro.....so that 1993 dateline is key.

But nine times out of ten Lewis beats Bowe and by 1993 Lewis was catching-up fast having done the British, Commonwealth and European route and been in with Ruddock, Bruno and Tucker.

Maybe there was still a (1994) McCall-type hijacking on the cards - Bowe was well capable of doing that and if McCall could do that etc - and Lewis had made very heavy weather of his October 1993 fight with a supposedly on-the-slide Bruno.

The date is good/essential for the debate.....Lewis had assuredly arrived but was far from the finished article.

Lewis had the better defense, Bowe the better offense. Both were capable of stopping the other guy; a lot of different scenarios could have developed. There is a chance it could go the distance with Bowe out jabbing Lewis. More likely that it doesn't go the distance. At their best, would lean towards Lewis. However, Bowe didn't last as long.

In 1993 I think Bowe KO's him. His prime was short lived, but he was a special talent for a few fleeting years there.

Yes in the case of the first bout.
