18yrs old Mexican girl Jeanette Zacarias Zapata still in intensive care

She was KOed last Saturday by Marie-Pier Houle. Started convulsing while still on her feet after the referee stoppage. Was taken to the hospital straight away. She was KOed in her last fight in May. Last news from GYM promotions who was holding the event are that things are not looking good for the young fighter.

women, i know they have the right to box if they want to, still, their bodies just aren't made for fist fighting (neither are men's). period.

i never watched women boxing, never will.

sure that truly horrible shit happened to men as well but if women were boxing to the extent men do, that shit would happen much much more often.

good luck to that girl & just the best to her family in this horror situation.

The price we pay for our sport.

It's easy to say that a woman could become a housewife, a mom and such instead of getting her brain fryed in boxing but it can also work the other way around and instead of going into drugs, prostitution, crime etc some people are saved by boxing.

Its not easy to say that the promoter did anything wrong in this case. The problem with boxing is that these events take place on a monetary basis. This girls last three fights weren't about climbing up in any rankings but to bolster other fighters records and the events they are ofcourse held to please the crowd so the referee can't stop the fights too soon since that would diminish the entertainment value of the bout.

GYM quite ambitious there, matching their 31 year old prospect vs an 18 year old ko'd in her last fight

It's a pretty sickening one. Far worse than the usual tremble of the leg that we sometimes see.

Jeanette Zacharias Zapata might now need a miracle.

"She was hospitalised and placed in a medically induced coma, with doctors describing her condition as critical but stable." The Sun.

Amateurs wear headgear, pros limited to 10 X 2 min fights.

They are following the latest research data in those decisions, only in the women's fights, and not the mens. So without having to read screeds of medical notations and journals, you may be able to surmise there is a difference in male and females' head and brain physiology :maybe:

Not true at all. Women's heads aren't softer then men's. In fact my sister's head is twice as hard as a man's, as she's demonstrated many times. It is true that women don't punch as hard as men. It's also true that everyone is different, everyone's an individual. Some people can take more blows to the head while some people are more prone to injury. And past trauma has a huge impact on future trauma.

Im no doctor, just a part time breast inspector, so I think you should look into it yourself because your wrong according to what is known right now.
From a 2019 study:
female TBI group differs in the severity of injury and mortality from male significantly [24]. The mortality rates for male and female were 1.6% and 3.4%, respectively. They also found that the degree of damage measured by the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) shows that female performed worse. Besides, female aged 30 years or older had a poorer outcome than either males or females younger than 30 measured by the Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS)

I am amused that the scale of comas is called the Glasgow scale. My imagination tells me this is to do with the Glasgow kiss

Poor kid. Rest in peace. The big problem is this sport is so ruthless in all its aspects. :verysad:
