EBU orders Kabayel vs. Huck showdown

The EBU has ordered an all-German clash for the vacant European heavyweight championship between unbeaten IBF #6, WBC #7, WBA #8, WBO #12 ranked Agit Kabayel (21-0, 13 KOs) and ex-cruiserweight world champion Marco Huck (45-5-1, 28 KOs).

Huck, 36, has been competing in the heavyweight division since mid-2018.

Kabayel previously held this same EBU title between 2017 and 2019. Negotiations are now underway for the two camps to agree on the time and place for the fight.

They may as well make the fight. Inactivity kills boxers.

Huck is worn. Can't see him winning it even despite Kabayel has been woefully wasting his prime years.

Kabayel should take this fight. Should be an easy win and will get him an opportunity to face some better guys if there's a belt on the line and also if they come as mandatories. That being said, would Kabayel even want that?

What has Huck done to receive an EBU title shot?

Glad to get Euro away from joyce, hope brittish and commonwealth follow. Im a big Joyce fan, i just think he is above those belts at this point.

Hypotheticaly within the next 6 months you could have

Kabayel vs huck for euro

Fabio wardly vs gorman for british,

Dave Allen vs kash ali for english

Justice Huni vs junior Fa for the commonwealth...

All fun fights with real meaning rather than the belts just sitting around with no purpose. then the winner of those could have meaningfull defences too because its not like they are looking for world titles next year.

I honestly think that given all the inactivity those would all be good matchmaking and fights that none of those involved should turn down. Are those the top 2 contenders for each belt?

Kab vs huck is ordered suposidly,

Fabio vs gorman has been talked about for a while so assume thats based on somthing.

Allen vs Kash is wild card, i origonaly typed allen vs Tom Little, but though that might be a stretch to get a belt on the line...

Huni vs Fa are talking about fighting, Fa is ranked with the commonwealth, Doubt huni is but he is a commenwealth fighter and solid so it could be made i guess if they got creative.

But agree they are all makeable. Thats what i think those belts should be used for, making fights that are nearly makeable but a bit to risky and then you put some extra motivation (a belt) on the line and tip the risk vs reward into the green zone. I really think all those fights could be made (although i think Huni should take a few more, if fa fights how he fought vs parker you need experence to deal with that style over 10 or 12 rounds)

Er don' t rush me, I'll think of something. Gottit. he gave Povetkin a stiff argument way back in the mists of time. Huck is one of those names never mentioned by fans, that gets thrown up by the EBU anytime there is talk of a fight for their heavyweight title.

Come to think of it. What has Kabayel done either?

That's an interesting match-up. The guy who officially beat Dereck Chisora vs the guy who unofficially beat Povetkin. I'm pretty mad that both of them have been pretty inactive during important years in their careers. Anyways, I'll take it.

Terms Agreed

Ulf Steinforth's SES will promote the fight for the vacant EBU heavyweight title between Agit Kabayel (21-0 or 23-2) and Marco Huck (42-5-1). When and where will be announced later.

There were purse bids scheduled today at noon (October 4) at the EBU office in Rome but the parties reached an agreement before that.

This all-German matchup is a crossroads fight for both fighters but especially so for the former cruiserweight champ Huck who's been struggling to make it as a heavyweight.

The fight for the vacant EBU heavyweight title between Agit Kabayel (21-0 or 23-2) and former cruiserweight beltholder Marco Huck (42-5-1) is in a "waiting position" reports SES in a press release.

The fight - a good candidate for German fight of the year - is now expected to go ahead during the spring at a major venue. However, the current restrictions, related to COVID-19, must go away before any major promotions can be staged.

Hopefully this fight is the one to give Kabayel some confidence and national support to go for a bigger fight. I assume this is a big fight in Germany between their top recent Cruiser in Huck and the guy that was/is supposed to be their next top Heavyweight?

If Huck wasn't so shabby, it could have been such.

Huck is too far apart from prime for this to really mean anything. I guess it is better for Kabayel than just sitting around. I am not expecting this to be fan friendly fight.

Huck is close to retirement anyway, but Kabayel has indeed wasted a lot of time for absolutely nothing.

Kabayel's career has been a joke
When he beat Chisora when Chisora still had a name as a contender, he should of had a push and stayed active.
No his team thought it was wise to take on a stiff here and there and throw away any momentum.
Worst management he could have
