Tim Tszyu vs. Takeshi Inoue on November 17 in Australia

Undefeated junior middleweight contender Tim Tszyu will risk his mandatory ranking with the WBO, when he faces Japan’s Takeshi Inoue on November 17 in Australia.

Tszyu is in line for a world title crack at WBO world champion Brian Castano.

Inoue has a record of 17-1-1 with 10 wins by knockout. His sole defeat was a decision loss to then world champion Jaime Munguia in January of 2019. He's won four bouts since then.

Tszyu is looking to make a statement, by stopping Inoue inside the distance.

“I’ve gotten to the stage where I couldn’t care less who I fight,” Tszyu told the WA Herald. “I’m not in this sport for a long time and I might as well make the most of every opportunity to jump on board while this ship is sailing.

“Bring me someone in the top 10. I just want to get in there and punch someone’s head in. I couldn’t care less about who is in front of me right now. I just want to get it on. It’s not going twelve rounds.

“I’m doing Jaime Munguia’s leftovers; he was a world champion and I’m fighting for no belt at the moment. I’ll take over everyone he fought when he had the world title. I’m fighting all of these boys without a world title.”

Tszyu (19-0, 15 KOs) has become a superstar in Australia, but he's ready to travel for much bigger fights.

He cautions that his upcoming bout with Inoue could very well be his final fight in Australia.

“It could be my last fight here in Australia, you never know,” Tszyu said.

“The manager and promoter pulled it off, even when everyone thought it couldn’t be done. It just shows we are leading the pack here in Australia. It’s a good stepping stone to the big boys. It was always my goal to entertain the Aussie fans, to give them an opportunity to experience this with me.

“The further you go in your career, the more it goes to the international level. We can host events here, but the big time is in the States. That’s where we will be going eventually. This will be a tough challenge, I’m sure he will give me my toughest fight, the toughest test of my career.”

Decent fight for just waiting for your shot. Takeshi went 12 with mung, and has beat everyone else he has fought (pretty low levle). Tim tszyu has to get through unscathed as first priority obviosly, but a KO would be another feather in his cap for the Tszyu vs Mung comparisons.

sorry its not the Naoya Inoue way i thought seemed bit of the weight still fancied Naoya Inoue haha

yea mung was young, but it was his 3rd or 4th title defence, and 5 months after his best carrer win (still). to be honest it was probably Mungs 154 peak right about when he fought Takeshi.

Takeshi is only 31, For most people thats well and truely proper proper Prime.

yea the mung fight with Takeshi showed up mung ,he took it to him, this takeshi aint no mug got a big heart and will trade , tough fight

Tough fight. Inoue gave Munguia one heck of a test to Munguia almost three years ago, Tim is tailor-made for him.

Tim Tszyu Training For War, Does Not Want Inoue To Last The Distance

Junior middleweight contender Tim Tszyu is putting his body “through hell” as he prepares to face seasoned boxer Takeshi Inoue (17-1-1) of Japan on November 17.

Tszyu realizes that his conditioning needs to be in supreme order to topple an opponent like Inoue, who in the sole loss of his career, by way of decision against Jaime Munguia, displayed a very durable chin.

“It’s a different prep this prep is all about conditioning, all about being grit, being strong, being able to last the twelve rounds because this guy’s built like a brick wall,” Tszyu told Main Event’s Ben Damon.

“You’re going to punch him, punch him, punch him and he’s going to keep moving forward and those type of opponents are very hard to deal with at times. Strategically I know what’s going on, but for me this fight’s more about being in a crazy conditioning state.”

The rising Australian superstar was hoping to face former world champion Tony Harrison, but their negotiations fell apart.

Now the 26-year-old Tszyu will be looking to become the first boxer to hand Inoue a stoppage loss.

“I don’t want the last bell to ring,” Tszyu said.

“It was frustrating at first because my mind was focused fully on Tony Harrison, and I was ready to get my hands on him and I was psyched because I knew it was going to be a good challenge. He’s a good boxer. But, you know what, the ball moves on. You’ve got to keep adapting and overcome what obstacles are put in front of you and Takeshi Inoue is the next one.

“I don’t take a step back and he doesn’t take a step back, and that’s going to mean there’s going to be a clash. It’s going to be good.”

inoue is a handful for everyone, relentless little fvcker! he'll bring it on from the get go.

tzyu better don't take him lightly, relying on the fuckin' judges and shit. inoue will come all night.

i know different body types/height can be misleading estimating weight but munguia looked like 2 weight classes above him in their fight, guess that's what it actually was though (at least 10 pounds difference after rehydro

Inoue is no threat to Tszyu or any other decent fighter.
Entertaining but wild and easy to hit.
This is not a step up in level for Tim and should not be competitive for more than a few rounds.

Tszyu-Inoue moved to Sydney

The promoter of WBO #1 light-middleweight Tim Tszyu has confirmed that Tszyu’s November 17 contest against WBO #7 Takeshi Inoue will go ahead in Sydney and not in Brisbane due to COVID-19 restrictions.

“The ongoing uncertainty regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically the impact of hotel quarantine on the health and welfare of our fighters, made it impossible for the fight to continue in Queensland,” No Limit Boxing CEO George Rose told Wide World of Sport.

“I want to stress that we are completely supportive of the hotel quarantine system and would like to specifically thank Queensland Health for doing all they could to make this fight happen on the Gold Coast.

“I can promise everyone that No Limit Boxing will be back on the Gold Coast bigger and better than ever in 2022.”

Tszyu can lock in a shot at a world title fight against Brian Castano with a victory over Inoue.

That's why they are fighting Inoue.
He WILL show up to fight but he is an absolute zero threat to upset Tim and ruin his title shot.

I want Tszyu to fight in America so bad. That will be an awesome fight to go see.

Takeshi Inoue Confident He Will Knock Tim Tszyu Out in Late Rounds

“My condition has gotten better and also my punch is now very, very powerful so I can beat Tim Tszyu,” Inoue said through an interpreter to WA Today.

“I respect his results because Tim Tszyu has not lost. I respect also his boxing technique and I basically respect everything about him. But towards the end of the fight, I’m thinking of knockout. That’s how I’m practicing.”

“It is a mistake. If I were Tim’s promoter, I wouldn’t let him challenge Takeshi,” Saita said. “He has chosen Takeshi and he may regret his chance.

“Tim Tszyu’s experience is limited to fighting in Australia. I don’t think he has fought a boxer as heavy as Takeshi, most of his opponents were lighter. Although he has fought against Denis Hogan, when I watched the match I didn’t think Tszyu was that strong. Takeshi could possibly exceed Denis Hogan two or three times. I would say [Takeshi will knock Tszyu out] in the seventh to ninth round.”
