Brexiteers were right, Remoaners were wrong again!

Post by IRONFIST »

Big pay rises for low paid British workers, more jobs for British workers not being undercut by cheap EU labour exploited by fat cats: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/pay- ... -fbdzkpvkt

Once again, I managed to get everything on my food shopping list this week.:TU:

The usual remoaner suspects trying to use every blip to blame Brexit eg. take the energy price rise: a Europe/worldwide issue:

From even the remoaning BBC (they tried to hide it in the small print of course though):
Are gas prices rising in Europe?

The rise in global wholesale gas prices has been felt across Europe.

Some suggest Brexit has meant the UK is at a disadvantage when it comes to getting the best deal.

When it was in the EU, the UK was part of the Internal Energy Market which can enable countries to access electricity more smoothly and at lower cost.

However, the way gas is traded has been largely unaffected, which means leaving the EU has not had a significant impact.

Countries that rely heavily on imported gas, such as Italy and Spain, have been particularly hard hit. Their governments have directly cut prices and raised taxes on energy company profits respectively.

The price cap has meant the UK's gas bills have until now been typically lower than the EU average.
With Brexit we can now properly invest in Britain's energy resources rather than rely on imports. :yay:

Driver shortage, equates to more high paid jobs for Brits. So much for job losses mentioned by remoaners, now a million jobs available. Well done fellow Brexit freedom fighters, I salute you :salut:

The country needs 100000 people to drive lorries for the end of the year or else there's going to be problems...

Where are these people going to come from? Serious question! It isn't about getting people from a dole queue into a HGV
truck and drive from Sunderland to Stuttgart - it isn't how it works - it takes years to get to that level of expertise AND it's a very stressful job - Banjo wrote something about this before.

You'll remember the 90's when there was a big shortage of plumbers and what plumbers there were, were earning more than doctors and people queued up to retrain as plumbers - good news - plumbers earned good money - bad news - it cost the ordinary punter lots and lots of money to their bog fixed. The punter will be paying for the rise of the lorry drivers wages and some people might think that is a price worth paying but from what I know about the Great British public - most won't want to pay more for lifes essentials so a lorry driver can have a big pay hike.

We can get the lorry driver Brits back who quit after being undercut. etc There are problems every year, none are insurmountable. Lorry strikes, prices going up every year whether in or out of the EU etc

We have to become self-sufficient, should've been done long ago, being EU members made business lazy and too reliant on rubbish imports.

Wind Energy problems pointed out by Farage :

Naturally the EU are very very bitter about Brexit and want to find anything to try to punish us for daring to vote for freedom as they were very bitter when we beat them on vaccines, Macron hopping mad over AUKUS etc These are matters that can be sorted in the Brexit Britain years to come :TU:

I was speaking to a fella the other day, he is a clever scientific sort.

He told me that while wind and sun are obviously free and clean, to covert this into energy is a relatively dirty(pollution) business.

He told be that despite nuclear being such a dirty word, it is the cheapest, most efficient, most reliable and cleanest way of producing energy.

Yeah these things aren't a bloody moped, they are by far and away the hardest vehicles to drive and it's bloody expensive to learn to drive them too, you're looking at £1000 just to get a class 1 licence and then another grand to get the class 2 to drive an artic.

I was listening to LBC and Nick Abbott, and there was some ex-forces guy who drove petroleum trucks in Afghanistan (he might have meant Iraq but I don't know...) who has his licences and forked out 450 quid of his own money to get a cbc so he could apply for jobs because he has his HGV licences from the army but no haulage company are willing to touch him because he doesn't have any recent experience - probably down to insurance issues - I am sure you would need two to three years experience driving long haulage trucks and you don't go from driving a Ford Fiesta to driving a big old truck anyway.

These tory ministers just think you can train 100000 people to drive these trucks and everyone is finding out now it just isn't so simple.

The 100,000 thing is a bit overblown though, there's been a lorry driver shortage for years, it's not as if we had 100,000 foreigners driving wagons and they've all gone because of Brexit, a problem with Britain(and indeed many other countries) is there's a lack of skilled workers in general, there's a dire shortage of electricians right now for instance.

I forgot to say yesterday too that if people want to drive a petrol tanker then they need an ADR certificate to show that they've passed a course to show that they are competent to drive dangerous loads, so that's probably another 500 quid on top of your HGV licence.

Not a cheap career to get people into is it?

Well, I don't know if you are to be amazed with the latest but the government are going to make HGV driving test shorter and easier to get more HGV drivers on the road... whatever could go wrong there?

You think all those EU HGV drivers know what the heck they are doing on our roads, some have the radio/tv on full blast and drive with their feet on the steering wheel. Loads of fatal accidents over the years.
