This isn't an easy assignment, a lot depends on how Alvarez handles fighting away from home.

Everytime Gomez fights it feels like he could slip up.

The thing about micheal is he wont give up he can always bank on that, hes a warrior real hard nut, and i cant see it going to points so its going to be a stoppage, so its a matter on who lands the better punhces and who takes them better, i say gomez round 6 tko, but i dont think he had much left in the tank,

I hope he comes through, i have to see Gomez - Arthur II.

maybe him loosing tonight would provide a more realistic chance of arthur2

I think we all know that Gomez is always going to be treading a fine line between winning and losing with his style, but his conditioning is that much better that he is able to bounce back after being hurt, as he did against Alex Arthur and in his last fight.

He did look very shaky for a round in his last fight but fair play, he came back to win and the guy he beat came back and beat Carl Johanneson in one.

This guy gave Barrios a tough fight from what I've read, so it doesn't look like our little sombrero-wearing tearaway is in for an easy ride.

so i heard he did lose, i picked alvarez when the figth was announced and i'm gutted i didn't put a bet on, anyone know what the odds were?

Alvarez looked decent.

Gomez won the 1st round but that was about it... Really quite one sided.

Gutted my cable is fucked at the moment so I missed it, was looking forward to it. Did Gomez look shot? He looked very shaky in his previous outing.

I guess Gomez might have a return with Arthur now, Arthur should fornicate him right off although I guess he'll want to give him a good hiding.

Gomez lost? cracking! I had a tenner on the other guy at 4/1

he didnt look shot, he has limited power and once he couldnt buly his opponent he looked lost. Alaves looked to box on the outside for around 30 seconds sussing gomez out then have a solid 30second burst, gomez was being hit far too easily.

Gomez arthur 2 in my opinion will now be in the pipeline, cant see gomez going any further than euro level.

Gomez got hurt pretty easily in there. Alvarez didn't hit him with anything that massive to shake him up in the first place, and from then on it was all downhill. alvarez looked a very decent operator.

Foster was impressive, handled the occasion well and despite having some shaky moments in the sixth kept his composure well, and fought a generally controlled fight. he looks a good prospect, and looks to have a decent brain on him in the ring too. The left hook he finished it with was an absolute pearl.

He basically No excuses, Gomez prepared well... Just was beaten by the better fighter on the night. Said the stoppage was good and probably would have pulled him out at the end of the round.

Also said he would have to have a "long think about it" when Ed Robinson asked if the wars had caught up with Gomez.

I agree stu, i admired that honesty in graham. not like many who are too quick to come up with the excuses.

Anyone think Gomez will carry on boxing?

Graham was obviously concerned for Gomez, but didn't want to say anything to his man's detriment, full credit to the man. He's a likeable feller is graham.

While Alvarez looked good Gomez looked worryingly vulnerble and was getting hurt by punches that didn't seem that damaging.... he showed definate signs of waer and tear and really looked an old fighter.
I know he came back from the Lear fight but theres only so many times you can come back from defeats like that and Micheal might be wise to call it quits here... I have a feeling that Graham is thinking the same thing....

wonder if hes still looking for the £150k for the Arthur fight now? or mind you theres always Scott Harrison I suppose.

Ive said a few times now and no doubt ill say it again a few more. Gomez knows he will never fight as well as the night he fought Arthur and he knows Arthur will never fight as badly again. All this talk about retiring him whilst pricing himself out the fight tells its own tale.

I wonder where his new found mouth will take him after this.

I'd still like to see Gomez-Arthur 2 and if I was Alex I'd want it too.

And who knows what might happen? We can all say 'Alex won't fight that badly' yada yada yada but the fact is that Gomez left him a dribbling mess on the canvas the last time they got in a ring together.

And Arthur might have fought stupid but if you're that much better than your opponent (as Arthur's fans would claim he is) you should be able to go toe-to-toe, outbox him, outanything him and he didanae. He got destroyed.

Im not denying for a minute that Arthur got destroyed. I sat ringside for that fight and saw him slowly and methodically handed a boxing lesson. The point Im making is this.. Gomez knows he will never fight that well again. He also knows Arthur will never fight that bad again. that why, despite all his bullshit about retiring Arthur etc etc he continued to price himself out a rematch.

Undoubtedly Gomez has become an itch under the skin of Arthur and Alex will never be truly satidfied until he has his chance at revenge. However I would wonder, in the light of last nights result, how much Arthur actually needs this fight now from a career point of view. If i was him Id tell Gomez to go fornicate himself now. or offer him 20 grand, see how quickly he'll snap my hand off now the big fights have dried up for him.

Which is a real shame really. I always used to have Gomez down as one of my favourite fighters. Admired the way he put his career back together and knuckled down. I think they way he came up to Edinburgh and ripped the fight from Arthur made for probably the best fight Ive ever seen.

Just a shame he became such a mouthy bullshitting little prick after the fight.
