Just thought I'd highlight this as there's usually a thread mentioning it - the first one in two years for obvious reasons. It's from 1.30 - 5.30pm Dick Collins Hall, Robert Street, London NW1 3FB. There was a nice article about the organisers Chas and Kymberly Taylor in Boxing News a few weeks ago.

Kymberly's maiden name is Lonsdale, believe it or not. I remember Chas was in the corner when the incredibly shy and unassuming Vernon Vanriel gave arguably his greatest display to stop Gary Knight at York Hall in 1983. Vernon was Tottenham's answer to Muhammad Ali.

I hope Vernon is OK. His treatment in the Windrush scandal was criminal. This article from the end of 2020 - https://rightsandwrongs.co.uk/windrush- ... pensation/ - indicates he is finding things hard. I hope he has been paid his compensation by now (as he hadn't at the end of 2020) and that he is feeling more positive.

Yeah, Vernon's health began to fail him in the West Indies and some good people raised enough money to bring him back, although he is still clearly unhappy. It was all so different when he was boxing. He revelled in the wins and knew how to charm the media. Boxing News even did a two-page feature on him.

Bennie - if they don't, Ebay is probably your best option for that. I collected all mine via there and (if you ignore the people asking unrealistic prices) there is usually what you want at a reasonable price.

I have a chest full of old Boxing News starting from the early 80's to the 2000's. I'd be happy to sell the lot

There's always someone selling old BNs and the like, although whether they are complete sets I'm not sure.
