A reliable source informs me that Sinan Samil Sam decisioned former Olympic champion Lawrence Cley Bey and Nicolay Valuev impressively dealt with Attila Levin inside 3.

Valuev once ridiculed is turning into a serious contender, far from being the new Tye Fields he has disposed of Paolo Vidoz, Gerald Nobles and now Levin which is decent form. Sam's win was more expected i think and will hardly change peoples perceptions one way or the other...Cley Bey was after all 39 and comes in notoriously poorly conditioned and fights in spurts.

Any thoughts?

With all due respect, I don't think Sam will do much out of Europe. He's certainly been busy after losing to Krasniqi, but I think he's got a lot of waiting to do before he gets a world title shot, and if he does...don't think he quite has it all.

Valuev is very interesting. I think he has at last stepped up a gear recently, and, given his size and strength, I think he'll do quite well once he finally reaches the big guns. Sorry, gun.

Arthur Abraham knocked down Ian Gardner 3 times before winning a points decision. Abraham looks like a good middleweight prospect for the future.

Does anyone know if this card will be shown on Eurosprt UK at some point?

I'd love to see Valuev fight Vitali, just for the freak factor if nothing else :)

I hope Eurosprt UK do show this bill as reading the report on Fight News Valuev sounds like he put on a good performance. Maybe there is a little more to this fighter than many of us first thought.

Valuev is appartently ranked 5th by the WBA and Brewster is no Joe Frazier, so who knows?

Although It would be intersting to see if Ruizs grabbing tactics would work against such a huge and powerfull fighter like Valuev.

Valuev is making all the right noises and KO'ing decent opposition, no reason why his chance should not arrive soon. As for Sam well i am still undecided, some think he is the second coming while others think he is a big lump, i am not sure either way...he's certainly not the worst Heavy around.

Didn't realise Abraham won, he is a good prospect, a natural fight with Sturm will be made soon hopefully Ian Gardner was coming off the back of a good win over Olajide. Abraham is certainly one to keep an eye on.

I'll say it here and now, I think Valuev would give Klitchsko some big problems. Klitchsko would find it extremely difficult fighting someone who was 5 inches taller than him, his whole style is based on the fact that peopple are having to punch up at him. If he tried to pull his head back to get out of trouble, Valuev would knock his block off.

I've seen Valuev fight twice, and he's not that bad, and when you're that fornicating huge and you can box even a little bit, it's a difficult proposition for your opponents. He doesn't seem to be easy to hurt either, I saw one guy teeing off on his ribs round after round and it just did nothing, and once he tired valuev mullah'd him.

absolutely agree. since working at the Sauerland stable he has been improving his fitness, variabilty and footwork. he would even give Vitali problems. who should knock this giant out? Team Sauerland want to bring him in No.1 position at the WBA and want a fight with Ruiz. I say: bring on this fight, it will be the end of The Wrestler.

Sam was jailed in a "Pseudo-Ottke-tactic" which was a total bullshit. Sam is an offense boxer who was ordered the whole fight to do nothing just go for the points and the better fitness like Ottke did. IMO the last punches Sam took in round 12 were for Wegner. he rather risked the KO in the last round.

If they let him fight offensively like he did vs Bakhtov he will perfrorm better in his next fights.

it is rumoured that he will fight Vitali in Summer at the Arena Auf Schalke. Vitali promised to fight in Germany in his next free defense vs a popular opponent............

I downloaded Fields v Long recently just for the freak value. Fields didn't show much in the match but apparently he's approaching the point where he could be taken seriously.

Anyway i think it will probably be a while before i see both opponents stepping over the top rope into the ring...

After seeing the last 7 fights of Valuev and seeing his big improvement, I think he could take out the winner of Toney/Ruiz.
Also these fringe fighters some proposed here, like Butterbean and Julius Long wouldnt last 2 full rounds against Valuev. This guy hits hard and would lay them out with his massive right hand howitzer shots.

Still, Valuev needs to improve before fighting Byrd or Vitaly. He needs 4-6 fights more before fighting them on equal terms. However, Toney/Ruiz winner or Brewster should be no problem. KO inside 9 against any of them.
