but curious what ppl think if he doesnt

who should he fight next after that? or should he call it a day in your view?

he's 31, so still fairly youngish, in that fury, wilder, whyte, usyk, joyce, lovejoy and a lot of the higher ranked guys are older than him

Most very good fighters aim to win a world title and retire rich. Maybe he could do that. Be the best thing for him.

Win or loose there is plenty of good fights out there if he chooses to continue. He may not be the most polished fighter but I think the division is better with him amongst it.

I think he’ll pack it in if he looses the rematch, and I’d be surprised if he didn’t.

Of course he’s young for a heavyweight but he’s made an absolute fortune and is hardly in need of the money - you’d think.

His commercial value is also based on him being a winner / wreaking ball - take that away and although it won’t disappear, it’ll take a huge hit.

I’ll be fairly surprised if Wilder doesn’t retire within the next 12 months and I can’t see him facing a top 5 guy in that time. I also think that if Joshua has lost three of his last five it’ll be impossible to make the Fury fight - too much money will have fallen off the table in terms of commercial value and Joshua would have to swallow a greatly reduced B-side, which I just cannae see happening.

Who else is there to fight? Whyte (to me) looks like he is mentally ready to cash out and walk away so if he does fight Fury I think he’ll walk himself after.

Make it break for Joshua’s career this one in my opinion

He will cash in on a Fury fight if he loses again to Usyk.
Then when he loses the Fury fight he'd retire.

Only the Fury fight pays him enough to forget about legacy.

Retiring after another Usyk loss leaves a lot of easy money on the table.

Hard to say. Could just wing it it with wilder or fury, but then risking 3 losses in a row here.

Could see him fighting whyte. The medium risk medium reward option.

I personaly think if he loses again in march he should take enough time to let the brain recover Then go the levle bellow and bury the losses while getting used to a new trainer, 4 or 5 fights a couple of months apart against guys like trev bryan or even Cassius Chaney. Get 4 or 5 highlight KOs while your at it. Then pick your plan of attack. But this will never happen.

He'll have a lot of opportunities even out of the championship competition, because big fights can be made without titles. The modern boxing policy is just foulish enough to accept this obvious thing.

There are a lot of matchups of Joshua, that can sell:

- Wilder. A 50/50 bout for the Bronze, it has some history of negotiations.

- Miller. Had some beef and history, will have even more beef.

- Dubois. Two big bangers fighting each other will always sell.

- Hrgovic. Both will have nothing to lose, as Hrgovic is being mismanaged and we assume that Joshua loses the rematch vs Usyk.

- Hunter. He's often in fun fights.

- Ruiz III. The rubber match. Another HW trilogy gotta sell after Fury-Wilder.

- Ortiz. Another intriguing fight of those, who don't have anything to lose (although Ortiz behaves like he doesn't understand that he has nothing to lose).

All of that stuff gotta be interesting. We can also put Joyce into consideration, but probably he's go for a shot, if Fury-Usyk doesn't get made after Usyk-Joshua II.

He should retire in all honesty... he's made amazing money and he's unlikely to get a shot again, unless Fury beats Usyk, retires and scrambles the belts

Maybe one last fight with Whyte in Wembley then retire?

I’m not disputing many in the list above might be worth a watch, but there is zero chance of at least half of them ever happening

I think he'll knock it on the head or maybe a big winnable send off type fight against Whyte at Wembley, although I think Whyte will have a much better chance if they fought again. I can't see him beating usyk at all to be honest, this wont be like the Ruiz fight where he goes off getting fat for 6 months, he's basically a Spartan.

It depends on how he loses. If he goes down guns blazing then may carry on, as that in itself will be a form of redemption.

If he loses a weak effort on points, without going balls out, then he is finished.

They wouldn't dream of taking less than 50%, which I wouldn't give them. He's done. Surely even the casuals are sick of him and his crappy lynx advert. As soon as I saw him on fight night, waving his lucozade, pretending to listen to music on those daft headphones, I knew he was in too deep. The brand has finished him off. Stay humble.
