situation 1 - fight card

realistically, we know that a card with every matchup being some real nice competitive pairing aint gonna happen

so, how many mismatches are you willing to put up with for every good matchup?

example, a card has 10 fights, 7 are mismatches, 3 are 50-50

would that cut it for you?

situation 2 - fightter

and how about a particular fighter?

let's say they have 2 mismatches for every 1 good fight. is that good enough for you? let's say this guy is a champ , so basically every 1 in 3 fights he's facing a well ranked/respected opponent

i guess it varies by level too. a guy just starting out we are more tolerant of soft opposition.,

Depends on what kind of mismatches.

Blowout KO's are easier to watch.

ya true - the worst are the 100-90 fights that drag on

Situation 2 is different. I don't mind a breather every now and then for a contender/champ, but after 3/4 good fights.

if a champ takes a good fight, i am fine with a soft fight then in most cases

but it needs to be timely. if a guy fights only once a year, a soft fight wastes way too much time

also, once a fighter reaches a certain level, like p4p #1, i am expecting pretty much everyone to be a top 10 opponent or at least very close. some tolerance if theyve fought a bunch of tough opposition and then get a crappy mandatory.

If there are too many mismatches I will record the card and skip through to the fights that are decent. There is no point watching an up and coming fighter pasting a tomato can about the ring, that crap should happen in the gym. You don't win new fans that way.
If there is a complete dud of an undercard but a great main event and it's ppv - I won't pay. F*ckem'. You want my money, try harder.

Unless we are talking about prospects with less than ten bouts fighting professional losers then none is the answer for me.

I can accept 80/20 type fights but if it is a true mismatch where the result is inevitable then that’s unacceptable - although commonplace

In an event of 7 fights I’d sit through 5 of them… if they were prospects who could dig… for 2 close 50/50 pick ems.
How sad is that I’d consider my lucky to see an event like that as the norm.

I'm a firm believer that a show should still be able to hold its own if the main event is cancelled for whatever reason. If this is not the case then the promoter is taking the pi55
